5 Cycle Routes around Oxford

With so much choice, it can be hard to choose where to cycle. but here are our top 5 places to cycle in and around Oxford.

1. A circular cross country route around the City

If you are looking for a good circular route to stretch the legs a little, then this is a great 10 mile loop for you.  With lots of the route along the river in Port Meadow and then coming back via Summertown it is a great way to see both the countryside and cityscape.

2. 10 mile countryside loop

Another circular cycle ride, but this time heading out of Oxford from the train station, to some of the local villages and towns. The bike ride heads south towards Abingdon and Boars Hill. The route is fairly flat with some hills to negotiate.

3. Riverside Route

If you fancy something a little more sedate, which is guaranteed to be flat, then a riverside cycle route might be more your style. This route takes you from Oxford to Wolvercote along the Thames Path.  Oxford City is one of very few places where you can cycle along the Thames Path, so make the most of the opportunity.

4. Oxford to Woodstock

If a trip out to Blenheim Palace tickles your fancy, there is an easy cycle route from central Oxford to Woodstock, which is mainly on cycle paths.  You may want to stop in Bladon on the way to check out Winston Churchill’s grave. Approximately 8 miles each way.

5. The Oxford Ring Road

This is a satisfying circular route near to the Oxford ring road, which is mainly on cycle paths. Start wherever is convenient for you!
