Drinking cocktails is always a great way to spend a night out and there are a number of places in Oxford that serve a great selection of cocktails, in very stylish surroundings.  Here are our top recommendations.

Angels

Little Clarendon St, Oxford OX1 2HS

An exclusive venue with great cocktails, Angels is a lounge style bar with a funky vibe. Serving a selection of vintage and modern cocktails, there is something for everyone – but if there is nothing to tempt you, ask the bartender to create your own!

Duke of Cambridge

5-6 Little Clarendon St, Oxford OX1 2HP

Another in the Jericho scene, the Duke of Cambridge offers cocktails in a cool and stylish venue.  Bustling and full of atmosphere during the weekend, or if you fancy something a little more chilled out – come along during the week.  With classic and contemporary cocktails, there is bound to be something to tickle your fancy.

Love Jericho

30 Walton St,Oxford OX2 6AA

The cocktail culture is alive and well in Jericho and Love Jericho adores the area for its independent vibe. Set up in 2011 Love Jericho offers daily happy hours, and a wealth of mixing experience – so if you can’t see what you like on the menu, they will happily make it for you.

Mal Bar

Malmaison, Oxford Castle, 3 New Road, Oxford OX1 1AY

Malmaison Oxford is housed within the old gaol and its quirky building makes it well worth a visit.  Add to that the list of cocktails and the glamorous guests from the hotel, and it becomes a stylish venue with a great reason to stay and have another!

Raoul's

32 Walton Street, Oxford OX2 6AA

Raoul’s is a long established cocktail bar in the Jericho area of Oxford. It is proud of its heritage and takes pride in its use of fresh fruit and juices, and uses a lot of homemade ingredients in its cocktails.

There are two floors – an intimate seated area upstairs, and then a busier dance floor area on the ground floor.  Both areas serve amazing cocktails, and although they don’t have happy hours, they assure you of being the best value in town.

The House

Blue Boar St, Oxford OX1 4EE

A buzzy young bar, just off the High Street, The House is an intimate but lively venue.  With a games room and a private terrace this is a great place to come and trial the well-considered cocktail list.

With house classics such as Basil Jam, it is well worth a visit.

Thirst

7-8 Park End Street, Oxford OX1 1HH

A cocktail bar come night club, Thirst offers a great cocktail menu in an edgy and minimalist venue. The cocktails are well made and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. Come along and try a Gin Martini whilst listening to the resident saxophone player on a sunny Sunday afternoon, or quaff a Boston Tea Party to the sounds of funky beats on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

TVC

9 High Street, Oxford OX1 4DB

TVC (The Varsity Club) is a stylish venue in central Oxford, above The Covered Market.  It has 3 floors plus a stunning roof terrace with amazing views of Oxford.  One of the floors is a sophisticated Cocktail Lounge, but if you fancy a bird’s eye view, cocktails are also served on the roof.  It has a quirky and edgy interior and the cocktail lounge feels like a secret hideaway as you sit in the window and look out onto the shoppers on the High Street below.  It has a fantastic range of cocktails and with the lounge and the roof terrace, is definitely a must-see cocktail venue in Oxford, whatever the weather.
