Antoine Brumel is probably the best composer you've never heard of. His Missa Et Ecce Terrae Motus, the ‘Earthquake’ Mass, written in twelve parts, is a gem of early Renaissance polyphony, creating an ethereal ‘wall of sound’. If you like Thomas Tallis’ Spem in Alium, you’ll like this. Alongside the Mass there will be other more well-known Renaissance motets.
