So, let's assume that you read last week's suggestions for things to do in and around Peterborough, and now you've spent 5 consecutive days following our advice, well, that would mean you're about to run out of things to do...so here is our next five!! Enjoy.
1. The Oundle Treasure Trail
The Oundle Treasure Trail is the ideal way to explore the town, its water meadows and the nearby Barnwell Country Park with young children. The trail can be downloaded and printed out at home and is a 2-and-a-half hour free activity for you to enjoy with your children out and about.
2. Peterborough Lido
One of the country's few remaining lidos, Peterborough Lido boasts three heated pools and ample lawn and balcony space for children to play and relax with the rest of the family. Family tickets make this one of the best ways to enjoy all this lovely summer sun weâre having this year.
3. Hamerton Zoo Park
If you don't mind traveling a short way out of the city, Hamerton Zoo Park (PE28) provides a great family day out, where you and your kids can get up close and personal with cheetahs, white bengal tigers, a vast array of small cats, tamarins, lemurs, howler monkeys and much more.
4. Under 5s PlayDays at Footworks Gymnastics Academy
Your child doesn't have to be the next Louis Smith for them to enjoy gymnastics from a young age. Footworks run relaxed, fun, open sessions for kids of all ages to come and tumble around in a safe and different environment and make new friends. The sessions run for two hours on every weekday morning throughout the holidays, so get down to Footworks in Woodston and check out the fun.
5. Nene Valley Railway
Nene Valley Railway is a heritage railway that offers a brilliant family day out. The railway has been preserved and can be ridden from Nene Valley Station in Peterborough out to Yarwell Station in Northamptonshire. Nene Valley Railway is also the home of Thomas the Tank Engine. Unfortunately, Thomas is due to go in for repairs in the summer of 2013, but other old steam engines found at Nene Valley are more than worthy replacements.
