The Perkins Great Eastern Run is less than 90 days away, and organisers are now offering free marathon training sessions to the more than 2,300 runners who have already signed up to take part in the half marathon and fun-run on October 13.
The sessions began on Wednesday 10 July and continue fortnightly until the event, meaning that the remaining dates are 24 July, 7 August, 21 August, 4 September, 18 September and finally 2 October.
The free training sessions will be led by experienced runners and coaches from Peterborough's leading running clubs and will be overseen by endurance coaches from UK Athletics. They aim to cover running strategy, injury prevention, nutrition and give runners advice on progressing their training between sessions.
They will take place at Peterborough Embankment Athletics Track on Bishops Road from 7pm on the dates mentioned above, and will last between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on ability. Attendees will be split into ability groups and given advice appropriate to their level and needs.
There is no need to book your place on one of the sessions. Simply turn up and reap the benefits of free advice, whether you're a newcomer to distance running or a seasoned competitor.
