How on earth is it October already? I know many of you will be thinking much the same thing. Where have the last 9 months gone!?

However, as much as we wish there was, there isn't a great deal we can do about the steady march of time other than embrace it, and that's precisely what we are doing at the best of Peterborough by looking ahead to this month's big night: Halloween!

Yes, you're right, we shouldn't wish our lives away, but Halloween is one of those times of year that deserves a bit of forward planning, and we're here to tell you about one spooky activity that will send shivers down your spine.

We are talking about the Peterborough Museum City Centre Halloween Ghost Walks, which offer guided tours of our city's reputedly most haunted sites and give you an insight into the ghostly goings-on around Peterborough. You will be brought up to speed on the ghosts of the Cathedral precincts and learn about the ghouls that haunt the museum itself, as well as being told every nightmarish tale and spooky story the city centre has to offer. If the hair-raising stories don't set your Halloween off, then costumed extras will really bring the tour to life, giving you an other-worldly taste of the spectral horrors that Peterborough has to hide.

The ghost walks last approximately 100 minutes and leave from Priestgate, outside the Peterborough Museum, at 7:30pm every night from Monday 28 October to Friday 1 November. The walks go ahead whatever the weather and are fully wheelchair accessible, but are not recommended for under 8s.

Due to popularity, participation in Peterborough Museum City Centre Halloween Ghost Walks is by pre-booked ticket only. Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 concessions, and can be purchased in person from Peterborough Museum or by calling the museum directly.

You won't want to miss it, so make sure you book early. Happy Halloween!
