CPSO Spring Concert, Mar 16th 2025, Queen Katharine Academy, Peterborough
Granville Bantock (1868-1946) “The Sea Reivers”
Granville Bantock (1868-1946) “The Witch of Atlas”
Joaquin Rodrigo (1901-1999) “Concierto de Aranjuez” op.56
Johannes Brahms (1833-1897): Symphony 4 in E minor op.98
A unique opportunity to hear two atmospheric Granville Bantock conducted here in Peterborough by his great-grandson, Bjorn. They are followed by the most popular guitar concerto every written, by the Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo, with its infectious latin rhythms and haunting melodies. All rounded off with the classic 4th symphony by Brahms, at the pinnacle of the 19th century dramatic orchestral works. An outstanding concert of great classical music.
