This year Rhondda Council has decided that parking in some of Rhondda Cynon Taff’s main towns and villages is to be reduced or made free of charge. The move means that parking in Porth, Tonypandy and Mountain Ash will soon be free, along with “significantly reduced” charges in Aberdare and Pontypridd .
But what do the changes mean?
It means that Porth, Tonypandy and Mountain Ash will now become free.
In Aberdare and Pontypridd, it will mean a 50p short stay of one hour (down from 75p) and £1 two-hour stays (down from £1.50).
In Aberdare and Pontypridd, long stays will be reduced from £2.50 to £2, monthly permits from £37.50 to £20 and annual permits cut by almost half, from £375 to £200.
All-day Saturday parking in Aberdare and Pontypridd will be lowered from £2.50 to £1.
These changes bring hope of people shopping locally and help boost the local economies.
