I'm sure you've all noticed the construction work currently taking place on the old derelict lido? Well as part of a £3m EU Cash boost many hope the referbishment will bring more visitors to Pontypridd and create employment aswell as social opportunities.
It closed in 1991 and recieved a lot of local opposition last year when plans were first announced by Rhonnda Cynon Taff Council to redevelop and reopen the lido but not the paddling pool next door.
It's sad to see something that was a large part of many childhoods close along with the childrens park that was located just next to the paddling pool but the referbishment is starting to take shape and the result is looking good.
The aim is that it will be open before the summer break for families to come along and visit making Pontypridd's Ynsangharad Park more of a tourist attraction.
The new look is estimated to bring thosands more visitors to Ponty and create more job opportunities and boost the enconomic benefits for local businesses.
