The run in is finally coming to a conclusion, but the games are still coming thick and fast:
PTFC 2-1 Bemerton Heath Harlequins FC
In a match where the Dolphins could have been Champions by winning and hoping that Wimborne did not win their game at Laverstock, the Dolphins did their bit. Howvever, the Campagne had to stay on ice as Wimborne also won. Two goals from Stuart Gates put Poole two up before Bemerton got one back in the second half.
Bournemouth Poppies FC 2-7 PTFC
With the Dolphins requiring just 2 points to be Champions, it was all in their own hands this time. Only a win would be good enough and this time, it did not matter about other results. The night started with PTFC going 1-0 down, before an equalizer from Lamin Dibba and then went 1-2 up with a 30 yard screamer from Carl Preston. Poppies were not done and got an equalizer before half time. In the second half the Dolphins were rampant and showed why they were likely to be Back-to-Back Champions as goal after goal destroyed the Poppies. Stuart Gates, Mickey Hubbard (pen), Dave Sturgess, Steve Smith, and Ryan Dovell all scored to make it 7 different goal scorers on the night.
The Champagne was opened and the team celebrated.
Christchurch 4-4 PTFC
More a case of after the Lord Mayors show, already Champions and having beaten Christchurch 0-8 in a cup fixture on the same pitch earlier in the season, PTFC took their foot off the gas a little. The game was still exciting with an early Dolphins goal ruled out, before going 0-2 up with an OG followed by a Mickey Hubbard (pen), before Christchurch pulled one back before the break. In the second half Christchurch got two more to lead 3-2 before Lamin Dibba and Stuart Brown goals made it 3-4 to Poole. Christchurch were not yet done and got a late and deserved equalizer.
Lymington 0-3 PTFC
The Dolphins decided to play a number of youngsters from the successfully promoted Reserves side, with 5 named in the starting line-up. They more than held their own and were 0-3 up at the break with goals from Aaron Skelton, Will Spetch and Dave Sturgess. In the second half, 3 more youngsters were brought on and they held on to show why they have had such a good season in their own right.
Next up is the away trip to Wimborne with local bragging rights at stake, on Saturday 24th April at 3pm, then the last League game of the season, back at Tatnam against Fareham on Tuesday 27th April at 7.45pm, when the Trophy will be presented.
After that is the small matter of the Wessex League Cup final on Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May, at Christchurch 3pm KO, when they face Bemerton.
