The Garden in Winter

The garden is looking a bit sad and bedraggled at the moment, but there are shoots  and buds appearing already which is heartening. My garden is relatively sheltered, so seems to have its own micro climate. We have a small pond (with Bubble & Squeak our resident goldfish) and a compost bin, and aim to keep it organic and  bee, butterfly and insect friendly, which then encourages the birds. (When they're not  frightened off by Matty the dog). It's a small garden but we have crammed in 3 apple  trees, 2 peartrees, gooseberry, blueberry and redcurrrant bushes, rhubarb as well  as lemons, grapes and figs.I Just love winter into spring when the garden comes alive again, so I am looking forward enjoying the snowdrops and crocusses I planted  last Autumn. I the meantime I am hoping the lemons will ripen!  Keep an eye on  www.southseagreenhouse.co.uk  for snaps of the little lemon tree  and for skillshops and garden events coming soon.
