This summer Leyland will celebrate its industrial heritage.

Engines will roar into life and trucks will trundle to town from all corners of the world, turning the streets into a livng museum of Leyland's globally-renowned manufacturing history.

"Leyland Homecoming 2010" will be held over the weekend of 10 and 11 July.  It follows the success of last year's Leyland Transport Festival, which attracted all manner of Leyland Vehicles new and old, not to mention more than 10,000 visitors.

A festival committee, made up os buinesses and community groups, has been set up to organise the event.  They are uniting residents and local companies to help make the homecoming even bigger than last year's festival.

Plans are under way to bring together a huge variety of Leyland trucks including vintage vehicles and modern goliaths for a grand parade through the streets of their home town.

The British Commercial Vehicle Museum will again be the focal point of the celebrations, while other facilities and venues in the town will host competitions, activities and a special "Homecoming Dinner" in the evening.

Team kart races and truck-pulling contests are also planned, and any would-be participants will be able to build up energy with a street barbecue.  There will be lots more going on during the weekend.
