St Basils is an inspirational and cutting edge charity. St Basils is the regions largest charity working with vulnerable 16 to 25 year olds to prevent youth homelessness. Currently St. Basil’s have accommodation projects for young people in Bromsgrove, Redditch and Kidderminster as well as covering Birmingham and the West Midlands.
Since St Basils was established in 1972 in Birmingham with just one night shelter, they have grown to have 26 accommodation projects and 367 bed spaces across North Worcestershire and the West Midlands. St Basils has been recognised by the Housing Corporation as a national centre of excellence, something the charity are very proud of achieving.
St. Basil’s work together in preventing homelessness with some of our young people by training as ‘Peer Mentors’ and talking to classes in schools about the realities of homelessness and how to get help. By providing mentoring services between parents and their children, St. Basil’s try and resolve problems, enabling a young person to stay at home (provided they are safe). This is important, longer and maintaining that contact with their families.
Fundraising at St. Basil’s is extremely important. The two largest events are our annual challenge walks.
You don't have to be homeless to ask for our help from St. Basil’s. If you are aged 16 to 25 and experiencing problems at school, college or at home then you can get in touch now. Or, if you are living in Birmingham you can call the St. Basil’s Youthline on 0300 30 30 099 to access the support helpline.
