A special pop up art gallery showcasing Redditch’s bus shelter art will be open in the Town Hall later this month.
The gallery will be open between 2 and 4pm on Wednesday, 21st April when the Mayor, Cllr Malcolm Hall, will be officially unveiling designs to replace four old and vandalised bus shelters in the town.
Over the last two months pupils from Trinity and Arrow Vale High Schools and Birchensale Middle School have been creating designs for the borough’s latest stained glass bus shelters. Some of these designs are also being used to repaint two brick shelters on the Church Hill to Abbeydale bus lane.
The centrepiece of the gallery will be a two-metre high freestanding set of stained-glass panels celebrating sports in Redditch. Murals representing Batchley and Abbeydale will also be on display.
Visitors will also be able to view designs which are being developed by NEW College students for future public spaces.
The bus shelter art programme is funded by the Redditch Community Safety Partnership, under the banner Redditch Roadway Arts
