26th November is a date for your diary, as you’re invited to join in the celebrations for the annual lighting of the Christmas Lights in Church Street, Twickenham. The fun starts at 4pm and ends late, with a great line-up of activities and offers throughout the evening!
Itinerary
Church Street closed for set up from 2pm
St Mary’s Church Bazaar open from 3pm
Kneller Hall marching band from York House up Church Street from 4.30pm
Trafalgar School Choir to sing with Kneller Hall band at Xmas tree from 5.00pm
Lights to be switched on by Harlequins Rugby Players at 5.30pm
Street activities to continue until 8pm
Activities:
Craft Market to be open from 4pm throughout Church Street to include jewelry, clothes, toys, gifts and cards.
Children’s Carousel rides and entertainment.
Dusty Does Disco walking the streets in costume.
Harlequins Rugby Team will be hosting a ‘Kick to Win’ inflatable rugby activity for children along with a signing booth where the players will be giving autographs after switching on the lights. Enter their competition for a chance to win Premium Tickets for the Big Game 3 on 27th December.
Langton’s Bookshop will be having their ever popular Children’s Story Time at 5.45pm.
Sweetie Pies will be holding a ‘Gingerbread Man’ decorating station in their shop: children can decorate their own gingerbread men before they eat them. There will be a prize for the best Gingerbread Man.
Sweet Memories will be celebrating their 1st year anniversary on this night – it is exactly a year to the day that they opened. There will be balloons and sweets for the children, and bubbly, chocolates and fudge for the adults! They are also offering a special Christmas Offer – Buy £5 worth of sweets and get a 100g bag of sweets for FREE! They will be opening late, so please visit them and join in their special anniversary.
The Fox will be having an event that is part of the Richmond Literary Festival, by hosting 'Luke Wright & Friends / Nasty Little Event' 8pm £5 (£4 concession) - “Luke Wright is a poet in residence on BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live and in 2009 took poetry onto prime time with his Channel 4 Special Seven Ages of Love,”
Wild Goose will also be offering a Camper Christmas Gift with every purchase of Camper Kid’s Shoes. Plum will be offering15% off purchases made that night, along with mulled wine and mince pies.
In the Square we will be having Punch and Judy for the children and their parents at 6pm, while Pincho and Crusader Travel will be offering free hot chocolate and mince pies to the audience. At 6.30pm the Mary Wallace Theatre will perform scenes from the classic A Christmas Carol.
The Richmond Music Trust will be playing their ever popular Festive Repertoire in the Square, while The Twickenham Museum will be taking everyone back to yesteryear with their Penny-Farthing.
Many of the other shops will be opening late and will be offering wine and mince pies on that day. So if you still have not got your Christmas presents, this night is a great time to buy them!
