The Arts Service at Orleans House Gallery works to deliver innovative and accessible arts for residents and visitors of the Borough. They organise and encourage all forms of creative development, from visual arts to dance, drama, music, film and literature.


There are several calls for artists and performers to become involved in exhibitions and events, so read the following info from the Council website to find out if your talents can be involved:


Exhibitions
Throughout the year, the Arts Service offer a wide variety of exhibitions at Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham, The Stables Gallery in Twickenham, The Riverside Gallery in Richmond.
Calling for art works submission
We are currently offering opportunities for artists to submit their art works for the following exhibitions:

Making It/Faking It
There are opportunities for you to submit artwork for this exhibition, Making It/Faking It. The theme of this exhibition is fakes, forgeries, homages and pastiches, or any works that explore the questions and notions of originality, influence and authenticity. Any media (prints, photos, paintings, objects, sculptures, film) and style are considered.


    •    Artists can submit up to 5 original works. Artworks must be submitted as high resolution jpeg files on a CD, with accompanying A4 sized photographic prints or colour printouts. Original artwork will not be accepted.
    •    Please clearly label each submission with: artist’s name, title of work, date, media, approximate size and price before commission if the work is for sale (the gallery adds 40% of the artist price for commission + VAT).
    •    In addition, please enclose contact details, an artist’s statement and CV.
    •    There is a £10.00 administration charge (which also contributes towards exhibition costs); £7.50 concessions (please include proof). Please make cheques payable to ‘L.B.R.U.T’. Your submission will not be accepted without payment.
    •    If you would like images returned, please enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope.
    •    Deadline for submission is 20 August 2010.
    •    Please submit works to Attention Mark De Novellis Orleans House Gallery Riverside Twickenham TW1 3DJ.
Successful artists will be contacted by email or in writing approximately two weeks after the deadline.

Picturing Science
Scientists use an abstract language of signs to visualize and explain the invisible forces, relationshops and processes which make up our world. Artists similarly create images to trasnmit and analyse meaning. What happens when these two systems of representation collide, intersect and contaminate one another?
In 2010, we have further opportunities for you to submit artwork for an exhibition at Riverside Gallery, Picturing Science. Scientists use an abstract language of signs to visualize and explain the invisible forces, relationships and processes which make up our world. Artists similarly create images to transmit and analyse meaning. The theme of this exhibition is the collision, intersection and contamination of these two systems of representation. Any media (prints, photos, paintings, objects, sculptures, film) and style are considered.

Calling for Carnival Performers
Twickenham Carnival is fast approaching and we are on the look-out for talented performers who would like to perform on the main stage and also form part of the carnival parade.
If you are part of a group of dancers, musicians or singers who would like to take part in carnival 2010, please email anna.ramsay@richmond.gov.uk to register your interest.

Director's Art Award competition
Pupils in the borough are invited to enter to the Director's Art Award Competition. Selected artworks from the entries will also be displayed at Artful 3 exhibition held at the Riverside Gallery.
