Rochdale on the Rise

Since the development of Rochdale college in 2010, the town is going from strength to strength. Rochdale college boasted a gleaming ‘Officially Outstanding’ in their Oftsted report and the council is plugging a whopping £50 million into present and future developments.

Amidst the various projects ‘taking shape’ (in the words of the council) are finished developments including crime prevention, a major refurbishment for our Police station, a focus on education in the form of the aforementioned Sixth Form College, £7m reshape of Hopwood Hall for vocational studies and a new library. We have also seen an extension of the Rochdale Pioneers Museum, from which we can embrace our culture and history and the luxurious leisure centre where we WILL find our motivation for our summer bodies.

So what now for Rochdale? Well that would be onwards and upwards for our small homely town. The Metrolink development taking us to the heart of Manchester City Centre has been welcomed with open arms. From Oldham, to Kingsway, these developments are firmly underway. In addition to Drake Street property improvements , the new bus interchange (due for completion Autumn 2013), the Metrolink is sure to bring tourism to our town; rich in culture, diversity and birth place of the Co-operative.

Planned developments mean a bright future for our borough. The Town Centre is receiving a complete make-over with £100m retail and leisure developments in the form of a hotel, cinema and department store for us. A cinema is what we have been longing for since the loss of Pilsworth! Our town hall and our mini Big Ben is seeing a clean up too; lets get in the running to beat Bury In Bloom!

Take a quick peek at The High Street Foundation which was launched by Levi Roots (yes, of Reggae Reggae sauce fame) in 2012. They are working towards 8 aims:

  1. Working Together
  2. Safe & Secure Environments
  3. Enhancing the Street Scene
  4. Marketing
  5. Animation and Events
  6. Accessibility
  7. Attracting Investment
  8. Evening Economy

We here at thebestof Rochdale are 100% backing this scheme and know they will be successful in their endeavours.
