From the 10th Century when the pope decided that rushes which were laid onthe church floors for warmth, there has been a celebration and procession to bring in the rushes on the churches saints day. The Littleborough Rushbearing Festival takes place over a weekend This July 20th and 21st. Saturday will see the start in HareHill Park which is the perfect place to host the fun fair alongside the more traditional Punch and Judy, donkey rides, Rugby Games and much more. On Sunday the procession will start at the Moorcock Inn at 11am and travelpast The Rake Tapas and The Red Lion providing great places to stop for food and drink. It will end in Littleborough Town Square with all the celebrations continuing there. Morris dancers,Drummers and the Rush Cart will be the highlight of this family Fun day.
