A Ghost of Christmas Past
Do you ever wonder what life was like 100 years ago? Geoff Butterworth, a local award-winning painter, does. Last year Geoff conjured a Rawtenstall scene from 1910 and kindly allowed Rossendale Hospice to reproduce the image for one of its Christmas cards.
This year he has imagined a beautiful portrait of Christmas time at the beginning of the last century in Bacup.
Geoff (FRSA BWS), 57, has lived in Whitworth for 13 years after moving to the area from Littleborough. He started painting in 1980 after being involved in a serious motorcycle accident which left him unable to continue his career in engineering.
His career has been littered with accolades. Having won major competitions and more recently the Burnley Townley Hall exhibition celebrated Geoff’s 30th year as a full time artist. You can also see Geoff’s work in the permanent art feature in Northern life Magazine.
The original painting can be purchased for £850. If you would like to know more about Geoff’s work, you can access his website: www.geoffbutterworth.co.uk or contact Geoff directly on 01706 633095.
Thanks to the support of Rossendale Self Storage Unit, set up three years ago, the Hospice is able to use the Unit’s facilities for its many Christmas card designs, along with Tombola and Raffle prizes. If you have something you think may help an excellent cause you can deliver your donation of tombola/raffle prizes directly to Rossendale Self Storage Unit or the Hospice.
Rossendale Self Storage Unit is based in Taylor Holme Industrial Estate, Stacksteads. (opposite the Hare & Hounds) 01706 872666.
