Small valley businesses are making good use of there own unique talents, turning hobbies into business.
Crafty Craft Fairs return to 'The Bacup Hub', Burnley Road, Bacup on 27th May for 'The Bacup Craft Fair'. The Hub has been home to the craft fairs since early 2011 and has seen a steady increase in numbers to each event held. Crafters from across the Northwest have attended in the past displaying an array of products including handmade greetings cards, cakes and jewellery. Recently organisors Phil and Caroline Ord have seen an increase of enquiries to display and sell products from local Valley residents. Phil commented "we have seen a couple of the stall holders return to sell at the fairs as they always have a really enjoyable day, but for our next fair on May 27th the numbers of new stallholders from Rawtenstall, Bacup, and Waterfoot has been really encouraging".
The Bacup Craft Fair on May 27th will see cupcakes from "Coppice Cupcakes", Rawtenstall, 'Charmz by Clare' from Rawtenstall, 'Sweet Makes & Nappy Cakes' by Zara from Bacup, to name but a few. The fairs will also see card craft demos, locally produced chocolates and textile crafts, including supplies for spinners and knitters and products produced from Rossendale fleece.
Recent events displaying local products at The Bacup Hub have been growing in visitors and Hub owner, Catherine Murphy said " Its always sad to see local stores having to close due to a difficult economic climate, but wonderful to see that the talented producers can come and grow there business at such events".
The hub is looking forward to hosting 'The Bacup Craft Fair' on May 27th and more events throughout the year. The hub cafe will be open with refreshments on the day, admission is FREE with disabled access available and plenty of car parking.
