Rossendale's new state-of-the-art golf driving range is due to open in October.
Golf Rossendale Driving Range & Academy is a 24-bay range, with a short-game area and putting green. Currently golfers wanting to use such a facility have to travel miles out of the area. The launch of Golf Rossendale means they will now have top-class facilities right on their doorstep at Marl Pits, Rawtenstall.
The centre will have two PGA Professionals and two PGA level one coaches on hand to offer lessons to golfers of all ages and ability. Golf Rossendale's new Junior Academy will run courses after school and at weekends for children aged six-upwards to help them develop their game.
Scott Grundy, managing director of Golf Rossendale, said: “Previously golf has always been seen as an elitist sport because of the costs involved with joining a golf club and buying equipment."
“At Golf Rossendale we want to make the sport affordable for everyone. Children can come and try out golf with us without the need to buy anything at all. Our Junior Academy sessions will introduce children to golf, in a fun and enjoyable way, whilst also teaching them the rules and etiquette of the game. Who knows, we may have the next Tiger Woods or Michelle Wie in the Rossendale Valley? We want to work very closely with schools and the Leisure Trust in a bid to offer affordable golf coaching to as many children as possible across the Valley.”
Golf Rossendale will also be offering ladies-only golf classes in a bid to encourage more women to get involved with the sport. The range's level one coaches will also be offering golf birthday parties for children aged 6 upwards.
The driving range will be open seven days a week.
