CAN YOU HELP? URGENT APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE
Whitworth needs Cub and Beaver leaders urgently
Whitworth Cubs and Beavers are in desperate need of volunteers who can join them as Leaders. Without this added support, the current Leaders are faced with closing both groups as early as Easter. The Cubs and Beavers have one meeting each a week at the Scout Hut on Longacres Lane, and attend a number of other events during the year.
Cub leader Tony Phillips says: “We have a waiting list of young people desperate to join in the activities, and a good building and resources. We’re also doing OK financially, but we’re really struggling to attract Leaders, without whom we cannot continue. Working with the young people is fun, rewarding, and the kids are just fantastic. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to think that the groups might have to fold and I appeal for anyone who thinks they might be able to help to get in touch as soon as possible.”
Anyone interested should contact Tony Phillips, Cub Leader on 07792 811407.
