Whitworth Town Council will be planting a tree in celebration the Royal Wedding of His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales, K.G. with Catherine Middleton in April.
The tree will be a type of blossoming cherry tree, chosen as it will bloom at roughly the end of April each year, to coincide with the couple’s anniversary.
The tree will be planted on land on the corner of Moss Side Street and Market Street in Shawforth, and will take place the day after the wedding, on Saturday 30 April at 2pm. The Mayor and Mayoress of Whitworth, Councillor David and Mrs Gillian Chorlton, will be attendance.
For further information, please contact Karen Douglas, Whitworth Town Clerk on 01706 852018 / email: info@whitworth.gov.uk (Monday to Thursday, 9am - 4pm).
