Kate Welland from the Hinckley & Rugby Building Society won the Young Achiever category at the British Mortgage Awards 2012 on 3rd July.
Kate, 26, senior mortgage services assistant at the Society’s Hinckley head office, was crowned the best Young Achiever among lenders at the British Mortgage Awards ceremony in London.
Already promoted three times since joining as a customer assistant, Kate, who lives in Barwell, shone on the Society’s staff development programme and now manages a team of eight.
Hinckley & Rugby chief executive Chris White said:
“We are absolutely thrilled for Kate. The awards are awash with the big national names in the mortgage business, so Kate has done exceptionally well to shine so brightly.
“Despite our mortgage department being extremely busy, Kate has managed her team with great aplomb, leading by example in providing great customer service.”
Kate, who was presented with a trophy, said:
“It was a great event. I wasn’t expecting to hear my name announced so it was a lovely surprise.”
Kate’s manager Julie Chapman said:
“Kate is very level-headed and very approachable – a great combination in her role. Even when she is under a lot of pressure she has got time for the team.”
The awards judges said:
“Kate is worth her weight in gold - keeping the wheels turning through turbulent times. She is highly motivated and very well regarded.”
