Whilst it's unlikely that you will stumble across a lost Turner masterpiece or missing Shakespeare script, there are occasional gems to be found at car boot sales.
One fortunate car booter picked up an Egyptian artefact in a box of mixed silver - bought for £50 - and sold it at auction for £30,000! The same man also recently found a piece of artwork dating back to the Middle Ages and linked to The Knights Templar – he obviously did something very right in a past life!
Whilst there is the outside chance you might get lucky, even run-of-the mill finds could prove a bargain. Perhaps you will stumble across a record featuring 'your song' that you've been hunting for on ebay for months, or a trendy piece of vintage clothing. It’s certainly worth paying a visit to have a look around and even if you don't buy anything, it can still be a good day out.
Of course for every buyer there needs to be a seller, and car boot sales are a fantastic way to de-clutter your home and raise a few pounds along the way. With Christmas around the corner, who couldn't do with a little more cupboard space to keep the latest bit of obscure cookware from Auntie Mabel - so why not clear a space by selling the chocolate fondue set she got you in 1997? So you don't feel bad, you can use the money to buy her something nice.
If you are looking for a bargain, want to clear some space or just like the thrill of the haggle, then take a look at one of these late season boot sales in the Rugby area – Dunchurch and Crick.
On Alwyn Road, Dunchurch, this regular Saturday car boot sale opens its doors at 8.00am (6.30 for sellers) and also offers refreshments on site. Children are free entry too.
