Local delegation seeks government support for energy-intensive industries
Rugby MP Mark Pawsey and representatives from local manufacturer Cemex visited the Department for Energy and Climate Change this week to discuss manufacturing issues and government support for energy intensive industries.
Speaking after the meeting Mark said:
“I was keen to accompany representatives from Cemex at their meeting at the Department. At every available opportunity I have raised the issue of government support for manufacturing, particularly support for energy intensive industries, as I am determined that we strike the right balance between fulfilling our ambitious climate change targets and supporting local manufacturing and jobs”.
Mark concluded:
“In fact I raised this very issue in the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement, when he highlighted the importance of keeping such industries in the UK. He went on to say how crucial it is that we do not price our industry out of the world market. I couldn’t agree more, and will continue to fight for a fair deal for Rugby’s manufacturing base”.
