Mark Pawsey MP delivers keynote speech at Air Asset Conference - Mark was asked to give the address in his role as Chair of a Parliamentary group on the Emergency Services.
On 17th April 2012 Rugby MP Mark Pawsey gave the keynote address at the Royal United Services Institute conference on the future of helicopters in this country. Mark was asked to give this speech in his role as Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Emergency Services. This group acts as a parliamentary platform that looks to promote the coordination of the police, fire and ambulance services. Mark’s involvement in the Group was partly in support of a Rugby based business, Airwave, which deals in joining up the communication networks for the emergency services.
During his speech Mark praised Rugby’s local Air Ambulance service, saying:
“Warwickshire and Northampton Air Ambulance Service operate in my constituency and they operate on a voluntary basis, depending entirely on donations from local and national companies, organisations and communities. They have an innovative and dynamic approach to fundraising and I encourage all present to look at their website to see the range of fundraising ideas local people have used”.
Speaking afterwards, Mark added:
“As I am involved in the future of Emergency Services with my role as Chair of a Parliamentary Group on such services, today was a great opportunity to reiterate Parliament’s commitment to securing a positive future of our emergency services’ helicopters. Here in Rugby we benefit from a dynamic and successful Air Ambulance Service and I wanted to make that known at today’s conference”.
The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) is an independent think tank engaged in cutting edge defence and security research.
