Rugby MP Mark Pawsey has welcomed the news that the Church of St Botolph in Newbold-on-Avon has been awarded £64,000 by the Lottery Heritage Fund to support urgent repairs to the building.
The Grade I listed church dates from the 15th century but is actually built on the site of an earlier church. The funds will go towards the replacement of the tower roof and masonry repairs.
Mark said:
“The Church of St Botolph is simply stunning and I am delighted that this much needed funding has been secured to ensure the future of the building. Each time I visit the church I am taken aback by the incredible building and surroundings. The knowledge that the church is going to be repaired to preserve it for future generations is very reassuring.”
The funding for the church is part of a £1.6 million lottery funding scheme to support urgent repairs to 24 of the West Midland’s most important Grade I and II listed churches.
