This year's Rugby in Bloom competition is now open to entries from individuals, businesses and community groups, and the judging panel can't wait to see how the borough will respond to this year's theme, 'Diamonds are Forever', which marks the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.

The judging panel will once again include volunteers from the Rugby Gardeners Guild, which is helping to organise the competition.

And this year, to mark 25 years in Rugby, Premier foods have backed the competition with a special re-design of the well-known 'Mr Kipling' roundabout. The face-lift has seen the giant cup-cakes given new union flag-inspired cake cases, helping the town to enhance its patriotic credentials.

Chris Worman, Parks and Open Spaces manager for Rugby Borough Council, said:

"Gardening and growing your own vegetables are incredibly popular past-times. They help to keep you fit and healthy, but also benefit the local environment.

"Residents, businesses and community groups have a wonderful opportunity to use their gardens to show just what it means to be British, and I'm really looking forward to seeing just how creative they can be in this year's competition."

Chris Chaplin, Customer Service and Logistics Director for Grocery, Premier Foods, said:

"We are delighted once again to support 'Rugby in Bloom'. In the Summer of 2012, we celebrate our Silver Jubilee in Rugby alongside that of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. To add to the celebration, we are excited to hear that the Olympic torch is coming to the town.

Competition entries are open until Wednesday 4th July 2012.
