National grocery chain J Sainsbury has announced that it is to move its support centre for general merchandising and clothing out of Coventry to the borough of Rugby.
The Store Support Centre is currently located at the Walsgrave Triangle in Coventry, but will relocate to Ansty Park. All 530 staff will relocate to the much larger and more modern premises, reflecting the much greater than expected growth in online sales.
Ian Davis, Executive Director at Rugby Borough Council, said:
"We are really pleased that Sainsbury will be moving a sizable operation into the borough.
"We pride ourselves on working closely with potential employers and developers to help them achieve their growth plans easily and, crucially, quickly."
The new site will include 18 new meeting rooms and additional training rooms, a canteen and outdoor dining area, more desk space, showers, and onsite parking for cars and bicycles.
There is also scope for future investment and expansion.
