In recent times, Salford University has undergone a makeover – developing their facilities as well as opening up a state of the art campus at MediaCityUK, right next to the likes of BBC and ITV. It is no doubt a great place to study but is Salford suited to student living?
Areas of Salford, such as Eccles, offer excellent housing for students at an affordable price but I want to focus on accommodation located nearer to the Main Campus, a project that will see top quality accommodation come to Salford University.
Graham Construction has recently started site work on an £81 million student accommodation complex just for University of Salford! The complex will be located at the campus in Peel Park and will provide 1,367 bedrooms with ensuite facilities with a targeted ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating when it opens in September 2015.
A brand new accommodation complex isn’t the whole story with the University set to invest a total of £136m in the campus over the next two and a half years. Even last month construction started on the £55m ‘Gateway Project’ that will include a theatre, recording and photography studios, café areas, performance and rehearsal spaces, computer suites and lecture theatres!
In other words, it has never been a better time to become a Salford University student.
