We visited with grandchildren on a beautiful sunny day in October. The farm in the Shropshire Hills is in a lovely location and it does help to visit in fine weather. The staff were without exception really friendly and chatty and child friendly. Apart from the free range chickens and goats and 2 day old piglets, there were cattle, cart horses,a donkey and mule to visit. Plenty of old farm implements and the farrier was making horse shoes and our 4-year old was thrilled to take one away with him as a gift from the farm.

Wear walking shoes or wellies for children as it can be a bit mucky in places but that makes it feel authentic! The cafe was good with cheerful, fast service and decent food AND excellent home made cakes. However by the time we had arrived several of the specials items had sold out. We spent 4 hours there and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

We really enjoyed our visit. Take the time to chat to the re enactors and you will be rewarded with lots of information about the farm and the local area. We watched the farrier, and learnt the difference from a blacksmith, and why a farrier knows more about a horse's legs than the vet does!

We had high hopes of Acton Scott Farm, but it never lived up to them. It is ideal for young children to see the chickens etc, but for two adults on a very hot Summer's day it was disappointing. It was too hot for the animals & ourselves so we had a walk around in the heat, with not much going on. My husband is from a farming family and did enjoy looking at the old farm machinery and reminiscing what his father used to use many years ago, so we did manage to make the most of it.

While staying near Ludlow we decided to visit the farm. I had taken my children many year before but we were on holiday with the grandchildren so it was a whole new experience. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had a picnic before going in. Where to start this is so much for the children to do. We followed the fairy trail, went around the maze, went on the play area, saw pygmy goats, ground corn and then fed the ducks, fed lambs and held baby chicks and went for a lovely walk and saw some beautiful countryside. We saw horses and a mule, lots of ducks in a pond, chickens, pigs, cows and their calfs. We also had a chance to step back in time in the school room, house and dairy where we saw butter being made. We were there till the farm closed as the children didn't want to leave. There are toilets, parking on site, a souvenir shop which also sells the butter made in the dairy, eggs collected on the farm and meat from the farm. The children and the older members of our family loved our day at the farm and the activities we took part in.

Spent a day here and time just flew by. it was really intercative - its not everyday you a see a Bull being castrated!! Kids had loads to see and happily wandred around the animals and we easily spent late morning, picnic lunch and early afternoon here. Like all these things wildfowl goes crazy in numbers and some bits need a refresh - Play equipment is a bit naff / limited and i'm not sure the lambs at lamb feeding were actually still lambs btw. massive. Overall its really well done and we had a fab time.

A great day out for our young children. Lots to keep the kids interested while we just wondered slowly around the farm. Lots of interesting nuggets of information all over the place. Some great looking courses to be done as well but we didn’t have the time on our holiday.

I thought this was expensive for what was on offer. Not many animals and not much happening really. It didn't take long to walk around so did not constitute a day out. More for young children

We had a great time here. It's a lively place - the animals are out and about, so expect to make contact! We were greeted by the friendliest, cutest little goats I had ever seen! While it is great for younger children, my 15-year old daughter also had a lovely time holding chicks and feeding lambs. The guided tour was interesting and informative.

My husband and I visited here as we were camping locally. We walked the whole attraction within 20mins and thought the place would be bigger. There were lots of activities for children and you can’t take away how hard the small team work however in hindsight we weren’t their target audience. Would go back on one of their courses which they offer at a price which look tempting.

A farm untouched by time, has a charm which is unique.
The restaurant is very good and you get very good value for money.
The live demonstrations are excellent and as one of our children had helped on the blacksmiths bellows, he was presented with the horse shoe that the blacksmith had just made. As you can imagine he was thrilled.
A first rate day out for the family.

What a fantastic day spent at the farm! I brought my 5 and 2 year old sons to the farm and they had a brilliant time meeting all the people working there and seeing all the animals. There was so much to see and do and the staff were genuinely lovely and keen to help us learn more about the traditional ways of farming. There were lots of hand-on activities the boys could get involved with, which they loved. And all set in beautiful surroundings. Thank you to the Acton Scott Working Farm team for making this day a day for my boys and I to remember, and for all your work in enabling the farm and all its ways to continue to live...

This was a return visit to the famous Working Farm museum - I went with my adult son and adult niece, both of whom had visited as children and enjoyed going back. It was great to see three day old piglets and learn about their care. The Shire horses are magnificent and we met the new Mule, Delilah. Everyone who works there is so friendly; they will answer your questions fully and I learned a lot about a farrier's work which we saw demonstrated, which is pretty much the same now as it's been for hundreds of years. You can learn about the farm and the history of farming methods from the displays too. One minor drawback was the long wait for food at the cafe - if you mind waiting, you should take a picnic, but the home-made food was excellent! Kids love the animals and you can help feed the animals, handle baby chicks etc. so it can be a hands-on experience.

The title was the word my 7 year old Grandaughter used to describe her day. She has been to every farm, National Trust property and tourist venues in both Shropshire, North Wales and the West Midlands and always wants to return to Acton Scott. It is by far her favourite. We spent 6.5 hours here and all enjoyed every minute. It is a step back in time with a lovely setting, wonderful atmosphere and amazing staff. It is a true farm not a venue trying to compete with something it isn't. You won't find razzmatazz or gimmicky lures. It is a welcome relief from the commercial approach a lot have taken.
Please don't change it anymore you have a true treasure which has a special place in this modern world.

When we visited we arrived early at 1000. Greeting was friendly as were all farm workers throughout the day. Wonderful setting and we were treated to a fascinating display of how to put an iron tyre onto a cartwheel. Shire horses were stunning and the man looking after them made our children feel safe and happy. Finished off with a super home made lunch. Excellent day out.

Our children love it here. There are just enough changes year to year so that the adults don't get too bored, and the children can spend a happy 2 hours here easily, especially if the horses are working.

This was my third visit to Acton Scott in three years with a school party and was probably the best yet. Lots of activities and things to see. We had a great time! The staff are patient and friendly, even when you've got 40 odd children with you and really help to make your visit special. There's a meeting room where you can leave bags and have lunch if the weather is bad. We were fortunate to have glorious weather so had a picnic outside.

An excellent attraction for all ages.

Spent a few hours here wandering around the farm seeing the animals being fed, the shire horses being groomed by the children from the school party before being harnessed to a silage cutter and taken out to the field to cut the grass. Lots of baby animals at this time of year. The cafe in the Schoolhouse is well worth a visit. Lots going on to see and join in with.

Acton Scott is a truly excellent day out. At this time of the year, there are lots of baby animals to see and we were lucky enough to be able to hold chicks and ducklings and to help to feed the lambs. We had a wonderfully informative tour from Mike, who really gave us an idea of life on the farm and we learned some fascinating facts about plants and wool dyeing. We can't wait to go back.
