We decided to upgrade and treat ourselves to a suite and we requested The Royalist Suite, which happens to be the biggest room at the hotel. The room is designed in keeping with the Royalists with a mix of Tudor - absolutely stunning. The added bonus is the jacuzzi. The room overlooks the moat and it’s resident black swans.
At this time of year there is a set menu and the price is very good. The food is well presented and lovely. What we were really impressed with is the chef catered for our severe nut allergy. The staff were amazing and helpful.
The only complaints we have is the room is above the dining area and there was a large party of people which could be heard in the bedroom and the food served in the dining area could be smelt in the room - Camembert isn’t a great room fragrance, but better in our bellies.
Overall a great stay and we’ll be coming back

What a nice place to find, everything about it was good, the food was very nice, the friendly staff made for a very enjoyable stay. The accomadation was clean and well presented. Even though visiting in the winter the grounds looked very nice and made exciting with the beautiful Black Swans on the lake. Oh and I almost forgot the breakfast was very good too. All in all would really recommend for a meal or an over night stay. Look forward to the next time.

We stayed in this elegant, comfortable and historical hotel. The room was traditionally English, the bed was so comfortable and had all essential facilities. We had cocktails in the bar before dinner, and entertained by
Malcolm who had a good knowledge of the area and regaled humorous stories which had overtones of being at Fawlty Towers in a very very good way!! Fantastic food, and great service. Breakfast was exceptional and again great service. We will definitely return again, as we can be assured of a comfortable and relaxing stay. We would definitely recommend this hotel and also book directly with the hotel for the best deal. You will not be disappointed.

After the cancellation of our river cruise, we found Albright Hussey in the dog friendly pub guide for an overnight stay on our way to Chester. What a find, beautiful Tudor manor, peaceful, lovely staff, comfy beds and delicious food. We loved it so much that we booked to break our homeward journey and the chateaubriand, wow! It was delicious the best I’ve ever had and that includes the Savoy. We will definitely return this time with our Labrador the original pub friendly dog! as they are so accommodating.

We chose to stay at the albright Hussey Manor Hotel as part of a 15-day journey through the UK. Although the rooms were small this was to be expected for an old building. The interior of the hotel was maintained and furnished with antiques. We found the bartender and general manager to be a delightful character with a ton of personality! The owner Paul was also on-sight and very friendly! The food was delicious and breakfast plentiful!

Had our wedding here and I stayed the night before with my bridesmaids and other members of our bridal party who had travelled, we were given our own area in the restaurant with beautiful platters of food made up for our party, brilliant service, great food gorgeous room.
Thank you for looking after us and a big thank you to the amazing staff.
Would highly reccommend

On arrival I negotiated for a room with breakfast included. First impression was good and the receptionist helpful. However my stay fail to live up to initial expectations. The room I was allotted was tied, marks on the walls and doors, no closing or locking mechanism on the toilet door. Very little room between the sink and the bath which did not have a non slip base.
I booked into the restaurant for an evening meal which was well cooked and presented but the waiting staff were disorganised, one of the two spent more time showing round perspective wedding parties that attending to paying guests. I found his attitude arrogant almost rude. Non of the drink I ordered were measured something I found odd.
At breakfast, service that was commensurate with my expectations. The staff were attentive, obliging and efficient.
My final comment is regarding the WiFi system, that turned out to be a constant irritation, having to log in with my personal social media details and date of birth!!
The system was intermittent and unreliable.

We stayed for 1 night in July. On arrival I had cause to complain about hair and soap in the bath, which was immediately rectified but off-putting! The room, supposedly an Executive Room, was disappointingly tired looking so I don't know what a non- executive room would have been like....
On a positive note, the food was good and the staff very helpful and friendly. However, I emailed the hotel twice with the above feedback and comment and had no reply or acknowledgement hence this review. Disappointing....

A two-night stay at the end of a break in Wales. Excellent hotel especially recommended for its friendly, welcoming staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Pleased to see it is dog-friendly although we didn't have ours with us.

Dinner was very good (but a greater vegetarian choice would be appreciated) as was the individually cooked breakfast. Breakfast service finishes at 9am which is a bit early. Another reviewer has commented that drinks were expensive; we didn't notice this as a couple of drinks each isn't going to break the bank.

My only gripe, and it's very minor as it was a last-minute booking, is that our room was up in the eaves of the old building so not much headroom and the floor was creaky. A bit of forward planning would have probably got us a different room.

Lovely place for a wedding ..but good god £6 a pint we couldn’t afford to drink ....one small bottle of alcohol free and a Kopperberg came to £9 that was enough for me.
Totally spoilt a good night for most people

First of all I would like to thank all the staff for making my sisters wedding perfect. Lovely venue, friendly helpful staff, easily the best wedding I've seen yet. The hotel room was a good size, very comfy bed and powerful shower.

The only things that stopped me giving full stars was the lack of flavour on the boring plain boiled vegetables on the main course and the extortionate price of the drinks. Depending on who was serving at the bar the price was different each time for the same drinks. My first drinks were a lager and a gin and tonic and paid £14.50. Then later on a got a double gin and paid £13.20 by someone else.
Unfortunately because of the price of drinks, a few people had brought with them their own, so they just had to top up. As I'm in the catering industry myself i know this is a huge loss. Would be much better lowering the price so everyone buys at the bar. Brought a glass of house wine for £11, and a double brandy for £16.

However my overall thoughts were that everyone made my sister feel so special on her wedding day and so would really just like to say thank you.

Fantastic stay, staff very pleasant and couldn’t do enough for you. Location is beautiful. We stayed in a business double and it was dated yet very clean and had everything we needed. If we chose to come to Shrewsbury again, Albright Hussey Manor would be our number 1 choice to stay. Taxis are very reasonable to go into the town if you’d like to have a drink.

The Hotel is set in a fairly remote area and dates back to 1524 and is not far from Shrewsbury and The Mere at Ellesmere. In the fields close by to the Hotel is the site of the Battle of Shrewsbury
Fought on 21 July 1403, King Henry IV and an army led by a bloke from Tottenham called Hotspur created mayhem with each other ,You know Lads will be lads and all that.

The Hotel itself is full of charm and charisma like an old lady taking her retirement seriously. Yes its old its not a new build It is what it is.
The Staff that we met were ever so friendly and helpful Malcom was a Star, Janette was friendly and attentive at breakfast .Javier gets a mention in despatches for his attentiveness and quiet but efficient manner.but needs to change his Football Team Support ,I mean Who has even heard of Real Madrid?
The food was out of this world Superb. The room was comfortable The shower was spot on the only thing that we could pick up on was that we could hear the guests in the next room which was ok as it went quiet around 11 ish and we had a good kip.
May have been a different story if they had decided to try and strangle each other at
3 am, but thankfully that never happened.
The hotel is Totally Pet Friendly which was Fantastic for our Pooch.
There are apparently lots of Weddings held here throughout the year and you can see why. Its an ideal place with a Fantastic Dining area for any Wedding Party. One of the best we have seen anyway.

We've stayed here a number of times, and always enjoyed it, the staff are always so pleasant and a reason for repeat custom. This last time was disappointing, the rooms are tired/dated and the breakfast has gone from a sit down relaxing order from a small menu table service, to a buffet style self service (meaning eggs and bacon etc are sat there a while and not as appealing as a freshly cooked). Lovely setting, staff as friendly as ever but the place needs a little investment and changing the breakfast to buffet has really changed the overall experience here. Next visit to Shrewsbury, despite the lovely staff/hotel setting, we will be looking to stay elsewhere as per night it's not the cheapest of stays when service elements have been removed and rooms do look dated and possibly like some aspects need a good deep-clean.
