In summary "a funny old mix"!

Hotel owned and furnished by an Italian family in I think the 1980s. Some will not find their "taste" to their liking (rather a lot of gilt furniture). However, if you are not used to luxurious hotels then you'll think this is the bees knees. Personally I think it could do with being a little simpler or maybe have genuine antique furniture and less faux / reproduction stuff/busy carpets etc.

There is a fairly bland modern extension out back (how the planners let them attach this to the stunning Tudor original I do not know...(brown envelopes perhaps?). Anyway, when booking ask to be put in "the manor" otherwise you may end up in the modern Barrett like box (a trip across the car park from Reception) and to be frank you could be staying anywhere (Travelodge/Premier Inn etc).

I had room 3 which unfortunately is above the bar and you can hear people talking below, so I was kept awake til 3am the first night. I did email a whinge to the hotel and the manager (owner) rang me and was a) very apologetic b) offered to move me, despite only staying two nights and c) committed to there being no noise the second night (which there wasn't). It was really refreshing to be taken seriously and to be treated courteously=Full marks.

The other thing that to me is the selling feature of this hotel (aside from how the building looks) is the food. Wow. Absolutely stunning. I know my food and this was great quality, not overly fussy but imaginative with fresh quality ingredients. I'm definitely going to return just to have the chef's "platter": Chunkily cut smoked salmon with a wonderful muted colour and deep intense taste, fabulous cured ham, sublime chicken parfait which was almost pudding like, served with fresh salad and various sauces. Stunning.

The manager even gave me a free (large!) glass of wine on the house to apologise for the noise from the bar the previous night.

A wonderful family run hotel - I wish them every success. Keep investing in your rooms tho as some are more fussy than others :-)

Stayed at the hotel for one night.
It is a lovely hotel with great food and service, but make sure you get a room in the old house, because the new block (main part of the hotel) has paper-thin walls and you can hear every word / noise from the adjoining rooms, which can be a little bit embarrassing!

We got married there on 16th October and the whole day was faultless. From initial contact until the end of the day the service was impeccable. Our contact Paul took all of the worry out of the day, right down to the finest detail. We just turned up and they made everything perfect. The staff/service was first class and all of our needs were taken care of. The food was excellent (and our guests agree), the grounds are beautiful and the honeymoon suite was superb. I did see some rooms in the new block that friends/family were staying in and despite previous reviews I think they were perfectly ok. Dinner on the night before the wedding and breakfast were excellent.

I highly recommend this hotel for a wedding venue and thank you to Paul and all the staff for helping to make it such a special day.

Graham and I would like to extend to your and all your staff our most grateful thanks and appreciation of the way in which you made Jane and Neil's Wedding Day so special. The whole of the time spent with you in your care was great - everything ran so smoothly, the food was wonderful and the ambiance so warm and friendly. What more could one ask for!

The comments from guests were just as positive - it was never more true to say that a good time was had by all. We are also very delighted with the idea of the Brunch. An excellent solution for the "morning after" and also allowing us to once more meet up with friends and family.

So, a very, very big thank you. We really are thrilled and delighted that you provided an excellent venue and excellent service for our daughter's wedding.

stayed at the Hussey for 2 days whilst on business in Shrewsbury and was again agreeably surprised by the welcome and general level of service. Staff all friendly, good food and comfy rooms, the manager even remembered me from my last visit. Will definitely be back.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal and night out at the Albright Hussey restaurant. Sometimes you just don't want to venture in to town. This is a top alternative to central Shrewsbury restaurants; still easy to get to, plenty of (free) parking and very high quality food and service.

Thank you so much for all your hard work organising our wedding reception and the fantastic job everyone did on the day. Everything ran so smoothly and we couldn't have wished for more professional, organised and friendly people to look after us.

Each element of the day was perfect and the food was just divine! Everyone had such a wonderful time and thought the venue was amazing.

This was truly a day to be remembered always.

I suspect this is a hotel of two halves. We stayed in the Royalist suite in the old part of the hotel and the quality could not be faulted. The larger part of the hotel is a very recent extension and from the outside looks like a travel lodge, although we did not see the inside of the rooms. The attention from staff was second to none and the evening meal was superb, and reasonably priced. I stay in hotels across the UK, and many in Europe, for business and pleasure and I would have no hesitation in staying here again (certainly in the old part of the building), or dining in the restaurant.

Located in the country side north of Shrewsbury, surrounded by green pasture land the four star Albright Hussey Manor Hotel is nevertheless easy to find, especially with a GPS. The original manor house dating back to 1524 has been lovingly restored and is filled with antique furnishings, clocks, paintings and implements. With its beautiful gardens it is a popular venue for weddings, and its classy wood beamed restaurant serves excellent food, including a chocolate mousse to die for. Service from check-in to dinner and breakfast is rendered graciously with an apparent attitude of wanting to please. Ample free parking on site is available, and a computer terminal with free internet access is available for guest use.

Depending on one's preference, rooms are available in the classic old manor house or in the newer, modern annex. Our nicely furnished ground floor room in the annex with comfortable twin beds and a modern bath was as quiet as can be. One could hear a pin drop, very different from what other reviewers have noted. The rate of 95GBP included breakfast and is commensurate with what is offered. Should we be again in the area in the future, we would look no further but gladly stay here again

To Paul, Dave and all the staff at the Albright Hussey.... Thank you so much for making our wedding day the most perfect and special day of our lives.

From the very first time we came to view the Hussey you have always made us feel like a priority. Your help in planning the day was priceless. It was so nice to know we were talking to people with plenty of experience!

The day itself was more perfect than we could have imagined. The venue was beautiful and your staff were just fantastic. My dad mentioned you all in his speech and I'm so glad he did because you were such an amazing team. Especially the lady who helped me with my dress right before I walked down the aisle! Thank you to her for helping with my nerves!

The food was delicious. Lots of the guests commented on the quality and the service.

You were all just fantastic and I know all your hard work made our day so special. Thank you.

My wife and I have just returned from a delightful weekend in Shropshire staying at the superb Albright Hussey Hotel.

Being over 500 years old main part of this enchanting hotel and restaurant is steeped in history. Although a tasteful modern section has been added that doesn’t detract from the original picturesque manor house for those with a love of more contemporary furnishings.
Overlooking the moat and beautiful gardens our accommodation was the fabulous Royalist Suite complete leaded glass windows magnificent oak beams and a beautifully carved king sized four poster bed.

The food and service in the gorgeous restaurant can only described as exquisite as the chief here really excels both with presentation and flavour.
The hotel staff are thoughtful and considerate providing the perfect blend of friendliness without being fussy or over attentive.

All in all the perfect place to enjoy a romantic relaxing weekend away while charming Shropshire countryside.

I do not understand how this hotel has a four star status it's not for the food, breakfast did not meet Little Chef standard
Dining room was excellent and very comfortable, disapointing menu / food !
The disabled room was fitted with a standard bath and shower (guests would have to step over and stand in bath to shower) not very disabled friendly
Very cold bathroom ! @ ground floor room with easy access overlooking car park view
Nice welcoming and attentive receptionist Thank you

Only stayed one night for a local wedding and the hotel is a hodge podge of old and new which is charming. Breakfast was average with condiments missing and no paper as requested. Room pleasant enough BUT be warned, the walls in this place are made of paper and you can hear someone sneeze from 100 yards. After all the door slamming and people mumbling and general noise I would not return as peaceful this place is not!

Not much choice in this part of Shropshire so had to pay more than I wanted for an overnight golf stay. Very picturesque old manor with more modern ancillary blocks built alongside. Very peaceful, you only here farm and wild animals, service good, breakfast good and worth a visit. Single room £80 was a bit much, £60 nearer the mark.

Parts of Albright Hussey are over 500 years old, while others are modern giving quests a choice to suit their needs/wants, and the ambience is befitting an historic building. that said it reflects an atmosphere are calmness and proficiency, where high quality service is the aim, and customer satisfaction is the watchword. we have visited many times, to stay, have a meal or just a quiet coffee in the lounge and regardless of teh cash value of our visit we are treated with the same level of professionalism.

We recently spent two nights at the Albright Hussey Manor Hotel. It is a fabulous hotel with fabulous staff. Our double room was small as was the bathroom but was tastefully decorated, an extremely comfortable bed and with added extras like Molton Brown toiletries and bottled water. The hotel is beautifully decorated with the oak panelled bar and restaurant areas being stylish but very comfortable. However what sets this hotel apart is the staff. Everyone we met was friendly, attentive and professional. Dinner in the restaurant was one of the best meals we have ever eaten, again with impeccable service. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special break.

The welcome was efficient and my room rate was adjusted automatically as I turned up on my own having booked for two. Rare honesty. £79 for a night with breakfast in an executive double room counts as very good value in my book.
Other positives:-
All staff were friendly and helpful
Wi-Fi was free and fast.
The sleigh bed was very comfortable with a mattress thick enough for a princess and very soft sheets - probably egyptian cotton. Pillows were a bit thin though and not feather or down.
Lovely countryside setting; you wake to the sound of birdsong.
2 complimentary bottles of water in the room
A nice waffle bathrobe in the bathroom.
An excellent breakfast - a perfect poached egg - cooked to order.

Slight negatives:-
Too much signage telling you what to do or not to do.
Antique furniture in a modern room ; it was pretty but useless.
TV mounted on the wall which pointed down at the floor and didn't adjust.
Bath panel coming away.
Paper thin walls ( lady in next room had a coughing fit at 7am - you could hear everything - luckily that was the worst of it ) not sure why when only 3 rooms are occupied, two of them have to be next to each other

We had an excellent New Year's Eve party at the Albright Hussey Manor. The atmoshphere was superb and the food excellent. Good disco and fireworks at midnight. The Hotel itself was good but we were staying in a part of the hotel that hadn't been refurbished and the rooms were cold and a bit '80's. The service was second to none with friendly staff.
