We have visited this hotel on numerous occasions to celebrate family occasions - birthdays, mother's day anniversaries etc. It is always our first choice for special events and we are never disappointed with the service, food or ambience in the hotel. The manager, Malcolm is an absolute delight!! He is always so friendly, welcoming and helpful; he keeps us all entertained with his witty jokes and stories. We were very surprised recently to learn that he was the manager and not the owner of the hotel; what lucky owners to have such a dedicated, charming and committed gentleman as front of house for their establishment.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful venue, charming ambience and wonderfully welcoming staff.

We stayed here overnight as our friends got married here.
It really is a beautiful place, perfect for a wedding.
The wedding took place outside in the manor grounds with champagne served outside and then inside for the wedding meal.
The food was great, we had a three course meal and every course was good.
Staff were friendly and our 20 month old was catered for with half portions, highchairs and travel cots provided.
Morning breakfast was good with choice of hot and continental food.
Our room was lovely, clean and quite spacious .
Would recommend especially for weddings .

Lovely hotel - in two parts - we were in the newer part. Rooms were comfortable but decor looking a little dated now. Old part of hotel was really very quirky with interesting nooks and crannies. Staff had real personality and could not do enough for you. Definitely need a car as hotel is literally in the middle of fields. Food was very good - desserts to die for!

Stayed overnight for a function. Reception staff and manager exceptionally friendly and helpful. Bar and function staff were ..... functional, but very unfriendly.

Food tasted of packet sauce in every option on offer. Dreadful stuff. Drinks prices very expensive. Average price of £7 for a small glass of wine, meaning that they make around £30 for a bottle of cheap plonk that costs them no more than £3 or less to buy in.

Best bit was the silence on checking in and waking in the morning. The hotel is well outside Shrewsbury and there's nothing close by in terms of pubs or restaurants, but the seclusion is part of its appeal.

As I only ate what was provided for our function, and didn't have breakfast, I can't comment on the hotel's a la carte or table d'hote options. I can only hope it tastes less packaged than the events menu.

Finally, a word about hygiene and cleanliness. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout, from bar to bedroom.

With a little more attention to producing home cooked food and more than a little reduction in bar prices this hotel would take two giant steps in the right direction.

Stayed here for an 8 course tasting dinner, wine, bed & breakfast.
Food was divine, everything you expect from a top tasting menu. Looked and tasted wonderful. Service was spot-on. Breakfast was outstanding, lots of choice, everything cooked to perfection, The atmosphere in the hall for both meals was delightful, service was top-notch, so well-done to kitchen & restaurant staff.
The wine was less impressive. We paid for the wine selection to accompany each course - in fact there were 4 glasses each, (not the 7 or 8 which it needs). None complimented the food, they did nothing to enhance the experience. Sad, really, as when it is done properly, a well matched wine makes the meal magical.
The room was clean, bright, comfortable. But what spoiled the whole event was the lack of sound-proofing. Honestly, we heard the people in the next room open their curtains, shut the bathroom door, flush the loo. They must have been hearing us as well. Totally put us off, if you know what I mean!

We got married here on March 27th and words honesty cannot describe what an amazing day and night it was. The staff are top class and couldn't do enough to help and the venue is stunning. We were lucky enough to marry on the lawn and couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting. The food was brilliant from start to finish. We will be back again soon for a Sunday roast. This place is amazing!

Really comfy room, good service, hearty breakfast with well cooked good quality ingredients. I was just looking for a place to crash after a wedding party. The room was an "executive double", spacious with a nice four poster and a lovely view of Shropshire. Staff are very attentive and got me a taxi as I flew through for a swift shower before heading out again! Highly recommended if you want a quaint hotel with a beautiful backdrop.

We were staying two nights Friday and Saturday (3 couples) , all of us had really nice rooms in the old manor house.
We had a special rate which included a Gourmet Meal the first night (went into Shrewsbury second night), we all had the wine flight with the meal. Depsite six different perspectives and food likes we all agreed the food was excellent and the service exemplary. A few of our party had drinsk in the lounge afterwards, someone ordered a Bailey's, it tasted a bit different, it turned out it was orange bailey, they were very good at changing the drink then when finding it was still ornage replacing it with something else all at low cost.
Breakfast on saturday was cooked to order but on sunday when hotel was full the cooked meal was a buffet, this was only slight dip.
On saturday evening the manager arranged a large taxi for us, and when it was late negotiated with the owner of the company to get the ride into Shrewsbury for free. All in all a great break.

My Wife & I had a one night stay as a treat for my 60th birthday. The hotel is in two parts, the old manor house & a newer accommodation block. We stayed in the Hussey Suite in the old manor which was like stepping back in time. The room was full of history & atmosphere, it was clean, tidy & spacious with an on-suite bathroom with a jacuzzi bath. We had an evening meal which was all local produce & was really tasty & well presented by excellent waiting staff & breakfast the following morning was also very good (full English).

Two nights of real old fashioned service, from check-in, throughout the stay in the hotel and the restaurant to the departure. We sampled the tasting menu one night and had a "standard" meal the second. Both were wonderful, tasty, beautifully presented and served. The setting of the old manor enhances the experience and nothing is too much trouble.
All the management and staff were lovely and made us feel really special. We will return when the weather improves

I booked the Valentines package as a special treat for my partner and we both were utterly impressed. We both had a truly wonderful and excellent weekend. The Hotel is just sheer quality in terms of food, service and character. The room we stayed was spectacular and had everything - a four poster bed, plenty of room to relax, wonderful views of the Shropshire landscape and was packed full of history. We had the gourmet meal on the Friday and the Valentines meal on the Saturday and these were two of the best meals I have ever had. The choice was amazing and the food was cooked to perfection. The staff provided perfect service throughout our stay.

I give this hotel 10/10 and is one not to be missed!

My boyfriend organised a surprise weekend break for us with a TZoo deal and it was one of the best weekends away we've ever had in the UK (and we've tried quite a few TZoo deals!). Everything was so lovely, from the gorgeous room with the four poster bed, amazing 8 course tasting menu and great breakfast in the Tudor dining room, and really friendly staff who took the time to chat and tell us about the history of the building, and made our stay really special. We would definitely like to come back in the summer to fully appreciate the garden. Highly recommended!!!

Our first stay and we were not disappointed.
I had a prior engagement and another later that evening and we arrived late.

However nothing was too much trouble and whilst my partner dined alone the food and attention afforded her were excellent and all this on an evening when they had a dinner event for 70 going on a the same time.

Me and my partner stayed here at the weekend after attending my works do to celebrate 25 years of trading. The whole organisation of the evening was brilliant everything happened when it was supposed too, staff were constantly running around catering for our needs and not to mention how beautiful they made the function room. Everything we wanted we was able to get without any fuss and all at very reasonable prices! The hotel itself truly is beautiful, not only the scenery but the pure simplicity of the old building. It's kept its character which makes it all the more a pleasure to be there. We stayed in room 14 & was pleasantly surprised on the size of the room! We had a hall way leading off to the bedroom, bathroom & also a cute little sitting room! We did not order or eat at the restaurant due to having the food at our function... But the selection of food and the way it was presented even for a buffet was outstanding & tasted Delish. Breakfast in the morning was lovely, a help yourself type breakie accompanied by lovely staff at your hand. I would recommend this hotel to anyone & would like to say thank you for making our evening spectacular!

Four in our part had an overnight stay at the Albright Hussey Manor Hotel on Saturday. A very impressive Tudor Manor from the outside. And the inside was equally so. We had booked via Travel Zoo for gourmet evening meal. What an array of food to get the taste buds tingling. A mix of foods you wouldn't have imagined would go together, but they did. The pigeon breast and pulled pork was mouthwatering. Celeriac soup delicious. And the beef cooked to perfection. By the end of the eight courses we were all savouring the flavours and congratulations to the Chef. And we were waited on with courtesy and friendliness combined. The staff were very friendly and our rooms were as requested. Full English breakfast on Sunday with succulent sausages, scrambled eggs, black pudding, tasty bacon etc. followed by Danish pastries which you couldn't resist. What a great way to dine out. A big Thank You to all at the Hotel.

Having had a few hit and miss New Years Eve functions behind us, we were a little hesitant about going down the hotel formal function route again, but after a great stay at the hotel earlier in the year we decided to give it another go. Good decision!
What a difference and what a genuine pleasure this stay turned out to be. The room was ready on arrival and as with our previous stay was immaculate. Plenty of time to relax after the drive before enjoying a mid afternoon tipple and getting a guide through the wine list from the helpful Javier.
Evening started with champagne and canapés and introductions and was followed by a well devised, beautifully cooked and excellently presented 5 course dinner. The main course of Beef Rossini was as good as, we have had anywhere.
Food excellent, wine list extensive- job done. Not quite, what made the night that little more special, was that you were made to feel like you were friends of the hotel and the staff and owners who clearly put their hearts into making this evening a great success. Well done.

We are coming back!

Nearly forgot, breakfast was excellent, as well.

We booked this for one night as we were going to a concert nearby. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown quickly to our room. Unfortunately there was a problem with the heating but when we reported it we were immediately moved to a different room which was in fact a lot bigger and nicer than the first one. The manager ordered us a taxi and recommended a restaurant to eat in nearby Shrewsbury which was lovely. Bistro Jacques which provided lovely pre theatre meal at very reasonable price. On returning to the hotel the bar was opened for us and we could have stayed there all night. The room was comfortable and clean and everything we needed. Breakfast was very nice. All in all a really lovely hotel which I have hesitation in recommending.

Booked this hotel for just one night - wish it was more! The setting is beautiful as was our room. All the staff were very helpful & friendly but also very professional. Breakfast was excellent. Everything we needed. Most definitely be going back - this time for longer than 1 night and hopefully get to sample the food in the restaurant. The menu looked amazing.

My husband & I stayed here last night. It was our 3rd stay...The previous visits had been in the month of March for our wedding anniversary but we decided to go and celebrate my birthday there this year. It was much busier there given the time of year and there was also a Christmas function on but that didn't spoil our time there. From the moment we arrived we were dealt with promptly and professionally at check in. It was lovely to be remembered from our earlier stays....thank you Malcolm and Javier and even though we were at the Manor at a very busy time of year we felt looked after.
We chose to have the A La Carte menu instead of Christmas Fayre....after all it's not Christmas until after my birthday! The dinner was sublime....fantastic service as usual. We wanted a bottle of Red to compliment our courses and as usual Javier was on hand to recommend what was the best red wine we have had....I had to take a note of it as we will definitely be buying some bottles soon. As we were leaving today after a fab breakfast the lady at reception whose name I didnt get...I'm sorry...was quick to make sure that we hadn't been disturbed by the party guests....I assured her we hadn't and it was clear that they had allocated us a room away from any ongoing festivities. Overall I can say that we weren't disappointed and didn't think we would be and that a stay at the Albright Hussey at any time of year is something special. Highly recommended and we certainly will be visiting again soon....even if it's just to talk to Javier about Real Madrid retaining the Champions League trophy! Good job I like my football!

Met up with friends for overnight stay. Rooms comfortable and clean. Plenty of hot water for the bath and shower. Staff extremely courteous and helpful. Service excellent. Fabulous dinner, everyone enjoyed their evening meal as well as the English breakfast with eggs individually fried on request. General Manager Malcolm was interested in feedback and made himself freely available had we any issues that required his intervention. We shall be going back.

You cant deny the charm and character (in the main) of the place and it's a nice setting for a hotel. The staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive but this can't really compensate for the shortcomings. OUr room was a a little on the small side (although cramped comes to mind) but was OK although the bed was touch soft for our tastes. The bathroom needed a bit of a refurb: a tap was loose, the window didn't open and the bath panel was coming away; the cabinet was chipped and tatty. A little soundproofing wouldn't go amiss either (or getting quieter guests): we could the TV in the adjacent room and what the occupants were saying; cars were also parked beneath the room qhich meant noise from them and their occupants. The restaurant was nothing more than OK, bordering on the poor. The main was cold (but the vegetables hot) but the entire main course was dull and uninspired and lacked any style. However the staff were exemplary in terms of service: very old school and most professional. Breakfast was OK even though it was from hotplates (but the scrambled egg rather insipid). All in all a disappointment and I couldn't, in all honesty, say that it meets my requirement for a 4 star hotel. A small tip: I looked through Tripadvisor and had a look at a prices via Expedia: this was £25 more than going direct to the hotel's website.
