I got married here on 31st January 2009 and it was perfect. My maid of honour and I stayed the night before, we shared a family room which had its own seperate lounge area which was locked when we arrived but the receptionist opened without any issues as soon as we asked. The only draw back to the stay the night before was the very loud music, obviously someone else had a party there and the music we could hear was from the DJ. This did mean I couldnt get to sleep as early as I liked but I didnt complain as this would be me the next evening!
The morning of the wedding we had ordered room service for breakfast and this was delivered as promised hot and on time, very nice food and very reasonable rates.
My wedding service went without a hitch and the manager was very attentive all day and any signs of issues were very quickly resolved before they escalated into something bigger.
The wedding party had booked out most of the hotel so it meant the whole place was just for us which was lovely.
The honeymoon suite was gorgeous, very dated but very quaint.
I would definatley recommend this hotel for special occasions as the beautiful location and freindly, helpful staff is certainly of a very high standard.

Albright Hussey is not wothout its drawbacks. We stayed in a suite in the old part and the decoration is slightly garish and lacking in finesse. I would imagine the newer annexe might be worse. But this is a matter of taste. Our four poster bed was also slightly hard. But the service was polite and attentive, the hotel was warm and welcoming, and also blissfully quiet, and we had a superb dinner, when we were magificently looked after by Malcolm, the General Manager. The service was what made our stay so pleasant. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Shrewsbury.

Myself and a large group of my family travelled over from Ireland to the Albright for my cousins wedding. On arrival the view coming in the drive was fab, real english country garden feel to it. Black swans and ducklings waddling over the lawn and down by the little brook. Reception was busy with our booking but organised quickly. Nearly everyone shown to their rooms. Then it was my turn as i was travelling alone i was in a single room which was away from the hotel and a bit isolated. Room was very nice and comfy but it was bad enough staying in a single room without having to be so isolated. Had to be walked to the room each night. Dinner was booked for that evening at 7.30 no complaints there. Was told the Caesar salad was a bit boring. I had steak and it was fab. Only problem with the meal was we gave in our orders three hours before the booking and they knew what time we were coming but still had to wait nearly 40 minutes for the steak. I was starving. Malcom and Christine were dealing with us most of the weekend and were absolutely perfect hosts. Very friendly staff and very obliging. Breakfast was perfect and Dot was a perfect host. My only big complaint was that on Sunday i woke late and when i came over from my room for lunch i was told i couldn't have any as the restaraunt was fully booked. Then i was told they couldn't dare ask the chef even for a sandwich. In fairness i couldve gone back to my room and ordered room service and they would've had to make me something but i didn't bother. Its not that close to other places so they should have accommodated me for food. As it was i had to leave and get a taxi to get something. Thats my only complaint. I would def go back though. Wedding room was gorgeous with double doors out to smoking area. Food was hot and gorgeous.

Back in 2003 we got married at The Hussey, it was fabulous - so much so that our Daughter got married there in 2006! It cannot be faulted - your every need is catered for. We've be back to the Restaurant and I would recommend it to everyone - you will be looked after beautifully by all the staff. A wonderful venue for any celebration!

I stayed 1 night and was very disappointed with the size of the room, very small and nothing like the website, interesting mis matched furniture and little attention to detail. The staff were friendly, breakfast average but all in all £120 for a superior double was way too expensive for what you got.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. My husband never works on his birthday and we thought we would explore this part of Shropshire. We had a lovely time at the Albright Hussey Manor. The food was excellent and the house and gardens superb. The wine is supplied by Tanners. Best of all the staff are a great team and enjoy their work.

Without such an amazing professional group of people to oversee and take care of Stacey and John's special day it would never have been such a successful occasion. Every guest at the wedding expressed how impressed they were with the magnificent food display, excellent service and fantastic attitude of all your staff.

My wife and I were always going to enjoy our son's wedding day and indeed it was one of our most memorable days as parents. In most part this was due to the beautiful surroundings of the Albright, the weather, friends and family, and the atmosphere created by you all - our hosts. From the moment we arrived, when your General Manager safely guided the helicopter carrying Alex on to its landing pad, to being served breakfast the following day prior to leaving, we felt cocooned in your care.... It is rare these days to encounter true value, never mind having expectations at all levels exceeded, whilst making it all look so natural.

A very BIG 'thank you' to everyone on duty from Thursday 18th to Saturday 20th September 08. Friday 19th was my daughter Sam's wedding and I have to say you all played a very big part in making it a day to remember. Everyone made us feel very welcome from start to finish. The hospitality of the staff was 100% and the food was wonderful.

So on behalf of all who attended the wedding, my warmest thanks for making Sam and Tom's day a dream come true.

Thank you so much for making our evening of 'fun, fashion and frivolity' such a huge success. Your staff were so professional and helpful and the whole thing ran so smoothly. We have had some amazing feedback from customers who came along, everyone's talking about it! We are being asked when the next show will be so if you're up for it - can I book again for next year??

Thank you for ensuring our day was as magical as we had hoped for. The exceptional attention to detail was very much noticed by the whole wedding party. Our extra special thanks to David and Paul for all of your support and guidance through the planning and preparations. The helicopter was the talk of the day so an extra thank you for ensuring it all went smoothly.

The food was outstanding along with the very professional service from all the staff. We could not have hoped for a better day and really would recommend the Albright Hussey as the perfect wedding venue.

I would just like to say a very big thank you to everyone at the Albright Hussey Manor Hotel. So warm and friendly was the welcome that both my Mum and I felt at home from the moment we walked through the door.
The surroundings were more luxurious and charming than I had ever imagined, and the food was second to none! The a la carte menu was made to delight, and the chef (on both nights) was first rate.
I would like to give special thanks to Christine, Malcolm and Anis. What a wonderful team! We couldn't have asked for more! An absolute credit to the hotel.

I stayed here whilst away on business for the week and it is a fab hotel. The ducks & Geece meet you in the grounds which look great for parties or weddings. Malcolm the Manger is a chiry chap and very helpful. The rooms have comfy double beds, Molton Brown products in the bathroom and robes are availble. The food for room service is really good and reasonably priced. The location is only 10 min drive dependent on traffic from town. It is a bit difficult to see the hotel sign, entrance from the road as the hotel is down a lane so not visable from the road.

We had a lovely couple of nights at the Hussey. Very friendly, helpful staff, excellent accommodation and food. Sometimes a B and B will do but for a truly luxurious stay in Shrewsbury, I can't recommend the Albright Hussey enough.

This gem of Shropshire was highly commended by some of my friends, so for a special occasion I took my wife for our twenty fifth wedding anniversary. When I had booked a room I mentioned wedding anniversary. On check-in I was welcomed by a very nice caring gentleman who took our luggage and guided my wife and I through the old part of this wonderful Tudor building to our room. A four poster bed, splendor and old beams, like the middle ages, very comfortable and clean, perfect after a long journey. We made our way down to the cocktail bar at early evening and where welcomed by Malcolm, when he served our drinks he gave us an amazing introduction to what we where about to experience, he explained every dish of the menu to us and all was mouthwatering without even tasting it, I went for the beef and my wife for the lamb both had ordered scallops to start with. We kept the menu and read the Chef introduction and knew we would be in for a real treat. After a little while Malcolm announced that the Chef was ready with our order and took us to our table near the window, there were about twenty other people dining and the atmosphere was electric and there was a real buzz, the food was amazing, fresher then fresh scallops, the beef and lamb simply to die for, we swapped our main courses, we had to taste all, with a fine bottle off Beaujolais Fluerie. For after we were handed a sweet and cheese menu, I do like cheese, when presented with an a la carte cheese menu, I was going to be more then happy, my wife choose a soufflé with amaretto. The cheese was served at room temperature and the soufflé was just wow. Afterwards the Chef made his appearance, this is new to me you only see this on TV, in the restaurant and talked to all the guests, he spoke to us about his involvement and use of local food, I have never met a Chef being so passionate and full of pride. Malcolm served us coffee and brandy in the bar area, I thanked him for the "experience" and wonderful evening we had and we would be back soon. The following morning after a healthy breakfast we met the owner and complimented him, we left the Albright Hussey Manor with a warm hearted feeling. I will recommend this gem to anyone.

After reading one of the negetive reviews on this hotel, I was almost put off booking the Albright Hussey Manor but I am extremely glad I went with my instinct & booked a very enjoyable & memorable long weekend there. My partner & I were met in the car park & our rather heavy bags carried to our room. We were warmly welcomed with a large glass of sherry at reception & shown to our very well equipped & spacious room. The room was situated in the old manor house & was very clean & comfortable with beautiful views of the well maintained gardens and the pretty moat which was home to a couple of Black Swans and ducks. The bathroom was well stocked with delicious smelling Molton Brown products & the jacuzzi was very appreciated after a long drive!

We took advantage of the beautiful weather & had drinks on the patio over looking the moat before dinner. Dinner was excellent with a professional but not rushed service. Try the souffle!!
The staff are extremely polite & helpful with nothing being too much trouble & willing to go that extra mile (my partner asked for soya milk, but was told that they did not have any but if we could wait 20 minutes they would have some! Now that's good customer service! I think that someone must of gone to the local shop on our behalf). We met the owner who gave us the impressive history of the hotel & it was clear of his passion & ambition that has achieved an award winning hotel and restaurant.

We have no hesitation in recommending this superb hotel & we hope to return soon.

Thank you,

I have just returned from a short trip to England, where I was lucky enough to stay at the Albright Hussey Manor. It's a great little hotel, just a few miles from the centre of Shrewsbury. My room was not huge but very comfortable, immaculately clean, well equipped, and had little luxurious touches, such as upmarket toiletries, a big teardrop bath, free wireless internet, a refreshment tray, and so on. The breakfasts are enormous and yummy. My vegetarianism was cheerfully accommodated, despite the meat-centric menus, and it is easy to believe that the restaurant wins awards. The staff (right down to the gardener!) are all helpful and friendly. I stayed in the modern wing, which leads off the ancient part of the building. As a history buff, it was a pleasure to have my meals or relax over coffee in the half timbered rooms, and then go for a wander around the grounds, which retain the original moat and a gaggle (if that's the right word) of black swans. The hotel is based in a historic manor building in a very peaceful setting, Looking out my bedroom window across the fields, I could see a church spire. It turned out to be the spire of a memorial church built back in the 1400s after a big battle on the manor lands. So I guess it wasn't always so peaceful in the neighbourhood. :) The staff were gearing up for a wedding when I was there, and it really is an idyllic place to get hitched. I would love to stay there again and, funds allowing, I would upgrade to one of the four poster rooms in the old part of the buildings. I have stayed in lots of bigger and flashier places, but none have been so relaxing or so enjoyable. I guess it has downsides; it's five miles outside the town centre, so you need a car or a taxi; it does have only a couple of dozen rooms; and there's nowhere to swim unless you decide to join the swans. But the only complaint I have is that I couldn't stay longer. A delight.
