Businesses in Shrewsbury are being encouraged to help make the town a sea of colour for a celebratory summer.
Shrewsbury BID and Shrewsbury Town Council are once again teaming up to offer hanging baskets, which are now available to order - with a closing date of May 27 for people to get their orders in.
The hanging baskets are produced by Shrewsbury Town Council’s nursery staff, and Shrewsbury BID members can purchase at a discounted price of £40, which includes installation and care throughout the summer. The price for non-members is £50.
Emma Molyneux, of Shrewsbury BID, said the baskets always looked fantastic and were extremely popular.
She said: “We are hoping this summer will be a time of celebration, with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in early June and a variety of events to look forward to in the town centre.
“The flowers produced by the town council always look wonderful, and the array of hanging baskets displayed by traders really adds an extra splash of colour.
“Baskets will be installed during June and will be part of a wide range of colourful displays with a patriotic theme, including bunting and banners across the town centre.”
Helen Ball, town clerk for Shrewsbury Town Council, said: “It’s great that we’re teaming up with Shrewsbury BID once again to provide our hanging baskets to business premises within the town, and they provide great value for money.
“Our town council staff are busy preparing the plants in our greenhouse at the moment and this is a great way to enhance the town centre, which really helps to make a difference to the visual appeal of Shrewsbury.”
Orders can be placed at www.shrewsburybid.co.uk/flowers and the closing date is May 27.
