Oh no it isn’t! Oh yes it is! – Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Theatre Severn is promising that the 2012 Christmas pantomime in Shrewsbury, Aladdin, will be their most spectacular EVER!
That’s some claim but tickets are already selling fast and the theatre has had to add extra dates due to popular demand - so anyone wanting to go and see it between December 1 and January 8 had better get their skates on.
This year Shrewsbury’s panto is written by the county’s own Paul Hendy and produced by his company - Evolution, making a departure from Spillers who have previously been bringing panto’s to the town for years.
So what can we expect from the new mix of Hendy and Evolution? Well there’ll be the usual mix of slapstick, comedy, singing and dancing, plus some stunning new sets, dazzling costumes and a talented West End Cast who’ll be expecting plenty of audience participation.
Telford born Hendy is best known as TV presenter, script writer and comedy novelist, and his wife, Emily Wood, who runs Evolution with him, comes from a theatrical dynasty. Paul and Emily formed Evolution in 2005 The Daily Mail recently reported three of Evolution’s shows as being in the ‘Top Ten Pantomimes in the Country’.
Sales for this year’s Pantomime, Aladdin have already pointed to another record-breaking year as families from across the county and surrounding areas are choosing Theatre Severn as the destination of choice for their traditional family pantomime.
Early take-up of tickets for Aladdin has meant Theatre Severn has had to extend the run by a further seven performances,
A record-breaking 31,000 people came to see Cinderella over the Christmas period and the theatre has ambitions to break this record again and again.
Tickets are on sale now and available from the Box Office at Theatre Severn 01743 281281 or online at www.theatresevern.co.uk, where you can view a full schedule and choose and book seats.
