It’s October and that means the spooky season is here, so what better excuse for some festive fun in your hot tub?
For this year’s Halloween, why not incorporate your hot tub into an evening of frightful fun? To help you plan your very own Halloween hot tub party, read our top tips below:
Clean your hot tub
When you are having guests around to use your hot tub, there’s no time like the present to carry out some essential hot tub maintenance. As your hot tub’s water should ideally be changed 3 or 4 times a year, the week ahead of your Halloween hot tub party presents a good time to drain it and refill it with new water. You’ll also want to clean or replace your hot tub filters to ensure your hot tub continues to function properly and the new water stays clean.
Once you have changed the water in your hot tub, it’s very important that you ensure the levels of sanitiser and hot tub chemicals are correct. In order for guests to safely use your hot tub, it’s vital that you test the pH levels, as a pH that is too high or too low is unsafe.
Decorations
Decorations are key to creating any party atmosphere and Halloween provides the opportunity to be creative. For example, why not decorate the surroundings of your hot tub, or the shelter itself with some Halloween themed fairy lights, perhaps paired with some strategically placed Jack-o’-lanterns? If your hot tub features multi-colour lighting, this can also be used to your advantage to help create a spooky ambience. Red, green and orange are perfect to create a creepy vibe. To get the most of your hot tub lighting, aim to keep the areas around your hot tub dimly lit.
Decorating your hot tub may prove to be a little more difficult, but you could place Jack-o’-lanterns, spiders, skulls and other spooky props around the base. As a finishing touch, you could even source some halloween themed rubber ducks to float on the surface of the bubbling water!
Music
From The Addams Family Theme to Ghostbusters, Monster Mash to Thriller, no Halloween party is complete without spooky tunes, so you’ll want to spend some time putting together a killer playlist. If your hot tub features a Bluetooth sound system, then you’re ready to enjoy your favourite Halloween themed songs over the sound of the hot tub jets without the fear of portable speakers getting wet.
Snacks and drinks
Needless to say, you’ll want your snacks to remain appetising whilst sticking with the halloween theme, so why not simply label foods with spooky names. For example, tortilla chips could be werewolf teeth or bone shards, paired with salsa or “blood”.
For drinks, you could make a fruit punch with red colouring, but don’t forget to ensure there is plenty of water around to ensure your guests stay hydrated while soaking in the warm temperatures of your hot tub.
Scary stories and games
Once your guests are settled, or perhaps near the end of the night when the party is winding down, why not invite your guests to tell their scariest stories to see who can give others the chills (even in the warm water). Make sure to have some creepy stories prepared yourself so you can start proceedings.
If you are looking for games to play, why not play a Halloween version of the guess who game, where each guest will pull a card out of a hat with the name of a character from a horror film or book. Without seeing what is on the card, each guest should tape the card to their head for other guests to see. They should then ask a series of yes or no questions until they can guess the character correctly. This always makes for some comical guesses.
