This year’s annual Shropshire Handmade and Creative Christmas Gift Fair will move outdoors at the Love2Stay resort in Shrewsbury this weekend, December 12 and 13, to comply with Covid-19 rules.
Forty local traders will be offering handmade, home designed and artisan products and food at the popular, free event, which is normally held inside Salop Leisure’s headquarters at Emstrey, Shrewsbury.
This year, the event moves to an outside market in the landscaped grounds at Love2Stay where it will run alongside the Salop Christmas Adventure activities, including Shrewsbury’s largest synthetic skating rink and Santa’s grotto.
Free tickets must be booked in advance online at https://www.salopchristmas.co.uk/ for both days in two-hour time slots - 10am-12 noon, 12 noon to 2pm and 2pm to 4pm. Admission is by ticket only and parking is free.
Last year’s event attracted more than 10,000 visitors over the weekend, but the number of people attending this year will be limited because of the Covid-secure measures to keep everyone safe. Shoppers will be asked to socially distance and follow a one-way system around the market.
The event is organised by Carrie Hughes, owner of Pink Pebble Events, who works closely with the teams at Love2Stay and Salop Leisure.
“The fair is a great place to do your Christmas shopping because there are so many different and unique products on offer that you won’t find on the High Street,” said Carrie.
Laura Wilde, from Salop Leisure’s marketing team, said the Christmas Fair was a good example of Shropshire companies working together to organise an event for shoppers and traders to boost business in the run up to the festive season.
