If you have ever wondered whether a career in the teaching sector is for you, try your hand at it with a part-time course at Shrewsbury College.

The Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector Level 4part-time course will run for 13 weeks, starting Tuesday 25 March, 5 – 9pm, at Shrewsbury College’s main campus, London Road.

This course aimed at those 19 or over, has been designed for those wishing to try out teaching people aged 16 years and above.

Participants will study basic theory related to learning and teaching and will practise the skills through a micro-teach session of between 15 and 30 minutes.

Jane Martin, Course Leader for Education at Shrewsbury College, said: “This is a short, initial teacher training course and an opportunity to find out whether teaching in the post-compulsory sector is for you. If it is, you can go on to gain a full teaching qualification. Students can stay on to study with us in partnership with Edge Hill University, depending on their previous qualification.

Successful completion of the course could lead to further professional development through the Diploma course or PGCE.

“I would encourage anyone considering teaching, but who may be unsure, to enrol on to this short, but extremely valuable course.”
