More than 20,000 visitors from across the country flocked to a major caravan and motorhome spring show in Shrewsbury.
Award-winning caravan dealership Salop Leisure said it was delighted with the “fantastic attendance" at the West Midlands Caravan and Motorhome Show.
“We were delighted to see so many first time buyers and existing owners at the event,” said Salop Leisure’s marketing manager Scott Higgins. “We are reaching a new audience with our marketing, as 40 per cent of the visitors who downloaded free tickets from our website are new to the company.
“Many of the people we met at the show were looking to invest in a touring caravan, motorhome or caravan holiday home as an alternative to going abroad on holiday.
“They were particularly impressed by the luxury now provided in modern holiday homes. We took orders from several customers who have decided to buy now rather than pay 20 per cent VAT on caravan holiday homes from October 1 and we expect this trend to continue throughout the summer.”
Designed as a family day out, the show was packed with things to see and do, with hundreds of the latest caravan holiday homes, luxury lodges, touring caravans and motorhomes on display from the country’s leading manufacturers.
Launched at the show were the Carnaby Jubilee and ABI Diamond caravan holiday homes, which have been designed exclusively for Salop Leisure to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year.
In addition, the company launched a five-pitch park for touring caravans, motorhomes and campers on a site adjoining the sales centre and Holiday Home Village. The mini park, which has been created in response to customer demand, enables the company to extend its range of services.
The event showcased more than 200 caravan holiday home and touring parks across the Heart of England, inland Mid Wales and the Cambrian Coast, which can also be viewed online.
