Shrewsbury College is inviting members of the public to attend its upcoming advice and guidance evening.

The College will be hosting the advice event on Thursday, 19, March, between 5-7pm, for people to find out more about the variety of courses on offer. There will be tutors and staff on hand to offer support and guidance on courses as well as financial and study support available.

Whether you want to develop your skills, pursue a new career or improve in your current one, or if you are an employer who is considering hiring an apprentice or training your staff, the College offers a wide range of professional and higher level qualifications. There is also an abundance of one day workshops and short courses for fun available, as well as the recently launched Traineeship programmes.

Some courses may have fee remissions, or may even be free, depending on your individual circumstances.

Students aged 24 and over, studying courses at Level 3 and above, may be eligible for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan, a government initiative which was created to encourage adults back into education. The loan is not means tested and is not repayable until the student is earning more than £21,000 a year.

Thomas Cochrane, 22, from Oswestry, is currently studying Carpentry part time. He said: “A friend of mine recommended the College and said that the atmosphere and tutors were fantastic – which has proven to be true. I work with my dad as a contractor, so doing this course part time has meant I can keep working whilst gaining the skills and qualifications needed to progress.”

The Advice Event is also appropriate for anyone leaving school this summer who wants to look at their options for September 2015 starts.
