A family-run firm of funeral directors has marked its commitment to client care by hosting a dedicated event on how to cope with grief following the death of a loved one.
Aubrey Kirkham Funeral Directors hosted its Coping With Bereavement seminar at Shrewsbury Town Football Club last month which welcomed leading international grief counsellor, author and speaker, Dr Bill Webster.
Aubrey Kirkham explained: “We’re thrilled to be able to host events like this for our clients and the wider community – and which is the fifth of its kind we’ve held. It was an evening packed with information, advice and guidance from a truly inspirational gentleman who has provided support to thousands of people across the globe.
“Dealing with grief following the loss of a loved one is certainly one of life’s most challenging experiences. Every person deals with death differently and so it’s important that through a dynamic and personable event like this, we can continue to support people both to and prior, during a funeral, as well as throughout the difficult times that may follow.”
The event was attended by over 80 local people affected by the death of someone close, as well as a number of professionals from across the Shropshire community and the care industry.
Aubrey added: “Dr Bill Webster shared his own personal experience of the grieving process, and provided guests with information and words of support not only after death, but also for life’s other challenges, including life-threatening situations and illnesses. We’ve hosted a number of seminars specifically on the subject of grief over the years, as we feel we have a responsibility to care for clients above and beyond what is expected.
“The feedback from the Coping With Bereavement seminar has been so positive, with many taking home with them valuable advice on how to cope with the pain of losing somebody. We’re already planning our next seminar in the autumn, which again will welcome the very honourable Dr Bill Webster. To register your interest in attending, please do call the office on 01743 368999 or visit www.aubreykirkhamfuneraldirector.co.uk,” he concluded.
Founded at the turn of the century, Aubrey Kirkham Funeral Directors saw the culmination of Aubrey’s 30-year vision to run a respectful and esteemed funeral service. The firm has introduced a number of dedicated initiatives, including access to support DVDs from internationally-renowned grief counsellors, as well as launching its Expression of Wishes form to give people the opportunity to make a note of things that are important to them, helping their families arrange the perfect ceremony.
