One of the highlights of the agricultural year, the Shropshire County Show, is fast approaching - and “early bird” tickets are still available.

The show takes place at the DMOS People West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury on Saturday, May 25, and is expected to attract thousands of visitors to its range of agricultural exhibitors, main ring entertainment and hundreds of trade stands.

Main arena highlights include the Paul Hannam Quad Bike Stunt Show and Atkinson Action Horses, along with the ever-popular Shropshire Young Farmers’ Clubs floats and Livestock Grand Parade - and new for 2024 is the Agricultural Vehicle Parade, supported by Rea Valley Tractors.

The Countryside Arena makes a return this year, featuring traditional rural crafts and skills including the Welsh Axemen and Shropshire Falconry display.

There will also be plenty of music on offer, with the Shropshire Live Village Stage providing a variety of music including the Wrekin Jazz Band, Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir and Shrewsbury Morris.

The 2024 show also features a Kids Zone, sponsored by PGL Boreatton Park, a flypast from a Lancaster Bomber, the annual dog show and equestrian events. In addition there will be a wide variety of trade stands to look around and a range of food and drink vendors to choose from.

Advance tickets at a reduced price of £18 per adult are available now, with children aged 15 and under going free.

Phil Thornycroft, Shropshire County Show Chair for 2024, said: “Once again, we have an amazing entertainment programme planned, and it promises to be a full day for our visitors.

“Our wonderful show is also well known for the quality of our livestock classes, and the Grand Parade, kindly sponsored by Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors, is always a highlight.

“The reduced-priced advanced tickets are always an attractive option for people, and we are delighted that the early bird offer is still available. It also provides the reassurance of knowing your tickets are booked and you won’t need to stand in lengthy queues on the day.

“There will be so much to see and do again this year - making the Shropshire County Show an event not to be missed.”
