A group of Creative Arts and Media students from Shrewsbury College have had their work displayed at the University of the Arts London’s prestigious Chelsea School exhibition, this summer.

The group of four students, studying Fashion, Creative Media, Art & Design and Foundation Art & Design, were selected by their tutors to represent the College at the UAL’s end of year showcase, which hosts exceptional work by students from across the country.

Jessica Ravenscroft, 18, from Shrewsbury (Art & Design), Robin Edwards, from Oswestry (Foundation Art & Design), Lauren Taylor, 17, from Telford (Fashion) and Charlie Dodd, 17, from Shrewsbury (Creative Media), were invited to the exhibition private view in London last month, where they could see their art work on display. Their pieces included, Greek mythological styled garments, acrylic paintings, sculptures and digital photography.

A spokesperson for UAL Chelsea Art School, said: “On 8 July, 2015, we were delighted to host the private view of Origins II, the awarding body’s annual exhibition of student work from art, design and creative media courses from across England. Students, their parents and their tutors came to Chelsea College of Arts to view the work of more than 100 students from Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications and the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design.

“As in previous years, the work was of an extraordinary standard and was testament to the hard work of the students and their tutors.”

John O’Connell, Curriculum leader for Creative Arts and Media at Shrewsbury College, said: “We are proud of the students whose work was selected to be exhibited. This is a real testament to their hard work and dedication. It’s important for us to continue challenging our students, and by entering them into competitions and exhibitions they experience real aspects of the arts industry and have the chance to meet and liaise with influential people and peers.”
