Staff at Shrewsburyâs Theatre Severn are celebrating this week as sales for Sleeping Beauty have now reached over 35,000 breaking the record set by the previous two pantomimes, Aladdin and Jack and the Beanstalk, and with another week to go tickets are still selling fast.
Brad Fitt, (Director and Dame) said ‘We are thrilled that we have outsold previous years and are looking forward to seeing even more people over the next few days. The show always evolves, extra bits get added, jokes can take on a life of their own and it’s never the same show twice and the final week is always something special.’
Audiences this year have enjoyed all the usual pantomime favourites (audience participation, lavish sets, big song and dance numbers etc) but it is the Bathroom Scene, which uses two tonnes of water daily, and Helga the fire breathing dragon that has really got everyone talking and has encouraged many people to return for a second, and even third visit.
