Promising young tennis players from around the county are making their final preparations ahead of competing in the Shropshire Junior County Championship.
The prestigious tournament, previously known as the County Closed, will be held at The Shrewsbury Club from this Sunday, August 21 to August 27, when the presentation ceremony will take place.
There will also be a fun junior tennis festival held the day before the competitive action gets under way on Saturday, a useful exercise for youngsters to get ready for the tournament.
Bob Kerr, the chairman of Tennis Shropshire, said: "The Championship is open to all players around the county from under-eights through to under-18s - and of all abilities.
"This is always an eagerly awaited date in the Shropshire tennis calendar and always generates a high level of interest.
"As well as the main draw, there is also a consolation competition, which means all players are certain to play at least two matches.
"For many of the youngsters involved, this will be their first experience of playing in a tournament, and it's always exciting watching them enjoy their tennis and underline their potential."
Spectators are welcome to enjoy the action at The Shrewsbury Club throughout the tournament.
Entries will be accepted at Sunday's opening day while they can also be submitted in advance via email to info@tennisshropshire.co.uk
