We visited Acton Scott today, three adults, four children and a baby. Admission was average at £34 for all of us but we did get a buy one get one free voucher to go back anytime before October for free. I doubt we shall before then though as the review will explain..
The setting is wonderful and the weather just added to the ambiance today..not a great place to go if it's raining! It states a working farm..we saw two Shetland ponies on the way in, in a metal pen..lots of ducks and chickens, very few sheep, a couple of pigs, one of which had twelve lovely little piglets, two shire horses, calves and a donkey. The only 'work' we saw was the donkey out on the fields..
The children did get to sit on one of the shire horses which was an experience! Other than that there were few workers around, no demonstrations to view and there was talk between staff that were there on how short staffed they were. Given the lack of demonstrations..I recall going many years ago and seeing butter being made etc..we got round the whole farm very quickly and were thankful we packed a picnic to draw the day out a lite longer. Some benches scattered around..plenty of grass to sit on to eat. No toilets that were actually open on the farm, to use the facilities you had to walk back to the car park. The shop was poorly stocked..I was expecting farm produce etc but it was stocked with over priced toys and gifts. There is a cafe on site however we brought our own food so I can't comment on the menu or prices..

Loved this little slice of how life used to be back in the day. Excellent performances from the staff recreating how life used to be lived in the countryside. Especially liked all the animals but personal favourite was the two handsome shire horses.

Olde world farm great for children, parents and grandparents- relaxed atmosphere with chickens roaming free and where you can interact with the farm animals.

What an idiotic location! We enjoyed our visit but after a stop for a coffee, only about half an hours worth of attraction. A few farm animals to see but could have been so much more. Good for very young children.

What a lovely friendly place this Is. Plenty of walks and things to do. Demonstrations all through the day and hands on for the kids. Walk a donkey, hold a chick or feed the lambs. Staff very friendly also. As for the location. It's a HISTORIC working farm. These arnt found in city centres next to McDonald's.
Great day out and will return this year again.

We were a bit disappointed with our visit , the place looks a bit run down. Yes I know its a farm and I don't expect it to be spotless but there seemed to be a lack of people around , We had expected more things to be actually shown working and more people in costume. Having said that the animals are the stars I think , especially the pig that has just had piglets. I also got to hold a baby duck . There was a really good display of model carriages which was very interesting but that was a temporary display by the model club. There is plenty to see but not a lot of information boards. The café is very good .

Very interesting and informative. Spent time talking to staff an 89 year old gentleman telling us of his 65 years of working on the farm could have spent longer!! watching the demonstrations and seeing the little piglets.

Really interesting visit kept 3 children from 3 to 7 fascinated and learning all day. Very friendly and helpful staff all in traditional costume. Lots to do as well as to see. A lovely cafe and also a shop.

Lovely day spent walking around the far looking at exhibits from the farming worlds history and a variety of animals. We didn't feel the need to rush around at the farm, everything was so relaxed. Very informative demonstrations about being a wheel right a nod how corn was ground using a beautiful shire horse, in a 'gin'. There was opportunity to feed sheep and chickens but we let the youngster do that! Proudly on display in our house, is the corn dolly that I was shown how to make. And the lunch was brilliant value for money. Would certainly recommend to others.
