Breakfast was a serious disappointment. Over=priced, scant quantity and obviously organized
to ct costs. Public rooms were a delight as were the grounds. Private room however was only

Wonderful hotel. Great location to tour Shropshire. Staff, food and facilities first rate. Of particular note, the restaurant staff especially Malcolm provided great service, knowledgeable and entertaining.

Arrived during a wedding reception - we weren't warned about this. Very busy and extremely noisy. Parking in the normal hotel bays non-existent. Loads of weeding guests blocking the reception area so had to park in hotel overflow and carry our suitcases to the hotel. Not a good start! Reception pleasant but showed us into room 6 where the only window has obscured glass and looks out onto a wall and a a BIOMASS machine. This is a room which as the hotel staff say they 'have' to let out but should never be rated as an executive room. If the Bio-mass machine is left on overnight it makes noises all night - not very pleasant!!
The staff admit that the night staff should turn it off for the night but hadn't on this occasion - not very comforting to the guest. The hotel says it offers the 'highest standards of comfort' - it certainly didn't on this occasion. We weren't the only guests to complain - there were at least two other couples at the desk complaining. A shame because the food was good.

We had to make a last minute booking and the reception staff were very helpful. By the time we booked, it was after housekeeping had left but an extra bed was made up for us and the welcome was relaxing. The room was super; a metal framed four poster and a separate sofabed in a lounge room. Good service in the bar and an excellent service at breakfast with a tasty range of products.
Our only issue (which may well be restricted to our particular room, 14) was that the walls were very thin and we were woken by the late return of our neighbours as they used their bathroom and pottered around, with a similar awakening as they readied the next morning. It might be worthwhile requesting a quieter room in future (but I stress that we were late booking).
It's a super venue with freindliness wherever you find people; reception, managers, restaurant staff... The location is easy for the town and parking is plentiful.

Brilliant hotel with bags of character and great hospitality. We stayed in the Hussey Room, which was wonderful. The staff were fabulous, friendlly and attentive.

First the good points, the bar and restaurant staff were very nice and the food was good though menu was limited if you are vegetarian. With that in mind they did offer to make an alternative if the one choice on the menu wasn't suitable.
The bad points - this is a wedding hotel where large bookings take precedence over couples and small groups. On arrival we were kept waiting 10mins while the receptionist pitched a wedding offer over the phone. The same happened on leaving. We paid for an expensive room, yet it had some serious problems. It is the middle of summer yet all the windows were screwed shut leaving us in a warm musty room. The worst problem was the sound proofing between rooms meant we could hear every detail, including what went on in next door's bathroom and the noise of wedding guests arguing in the corridor at 2:00AM.
